A downturn in fortunes moved me from a brand new X type 2.5 se auto estate (absolute garbage- 3 rear diffs in 4000 miles and that's only a fraction of the trouble it gave me!) to a 51 plate 46,000 mile 2 owner 1.6 auto estate. A revelation- no problems, likes a drink, owes me nothing. As a consequence I bought a 206 van ('54 plate 48k miles 1.4 Hdi) which has done 25000 trouble free miles in 8 months so with these 2 Peugeots on my drive I may not have anybody wishing they owned them but I think Pugs are pretty ok.
This is my second 306hdi Meridian having had one of the earlier models(98T). The 02 estate with larger wider tyres than the early models still has great road holding compared with the hatch. Despite it's lowly 90bhp it is a light and agile car with plenty of pull for overtaking - even when fully loaded!. Its been driven twice to the Alps on familly skiiing trips without any problems and with now over 60,000 miles under its belt still averages 52/54 mpg depending if you press on or take it easy! - and negligible oil consumption between its 12,000 mile services. Inside is getting a littel dated compared with modern cars but has electric windows all round, CD player, auto aircon and half leather upholstery. Overall good all round car and load lugger when needed.
