    My car

The Renault Clio V6 is unique among modern hot hatchbacks having the engine located behind the front seats in a mid mounted position like a Ferrari or Lamborghini. With its engine where the rear seats are normally found the Renault Clio V6 has a personality all of its own.

The exterior design of the Clio V6 is fantastic and has immediate appeal. The standard and rather feminine Clio has been transformed into a muscular ultra hot hatch with attitude. The Clio V6 sits wide and low, with the bulging wheel arches covering 18” OZ alloy wheels.

The Clio is not a car that you can jump into for the first time and drive quickly, especially on the track. The V6 engine develops 255bhp and with it being located inside the car you can hear it revving right behind you, adding to the sensation of speed. It takes time to get under the skin of this car and learn how to get the most from the chassis and engine. But once you have, it is a very rewarding and enjoyable car to drive.

The biggest disappointment with the Clio V6 is the interior which has been carried over pretty much unchanged from the standard Renault Clio. The design of the dashboard and interior trim is rather dated and the plastics feel a little cheap. These seats, which are specific to the Clio V6, look fantastic and are very comfortable. Unfortunately they are mounted too high for such a sporty car and have a lack of lateral support when cornering hard.

    My car

I own an 02 Clio. Personally I have had it for 5 months. In that time. I have had a leak from the oil in the gear box, had the rear exhaust replaced, had the catalyst replaced, had the head gasket replaced and the coolant pump.

And now it's booked back in as I have creamy stuff under my engine cap and it's losing all its water.

I've found staff at the dealership are very very unhelpful and Renault too.

Other than that it's a fab first car....

    My car

I have owned this 80 bhp version of the diesel engine for several months now and am very pleased with the performance of the car. The Dynamique versions with the bigger engines (above the 1.2 petrol and dCi65) have firmer suspension settings which I felt could be a little too firm at first in town but now feel just right for the slightly spirited driving I indulge in. The build quality is satisfactory and the level of kit in the Dynamique is welcome, including as it does a good-sounding CD radio, air-conditioning on my car and automatic locking. Some reports warn that the drivers' seating position may not suit everyone and I have had to make a compromise between good steering/pedal relationship and total comfort. Having said that, I test drove several other superminis and the Clio required less of a compromise for me than most of those. With fantastic mpg and spritely performance, the icing on the cake was a very good discount which sealed the deal.

    My car

I've just sold my 04 182 after 8 months of great pleasure and poverty at the 24-27mpg, £150 tyres and rapidly depreciating break pads! The new car is not what you would call fast, but if your looking for a cheap ride this is the car for you. 6 mths tax at only £47 and 65mpg!
