    My car

Nice, nippy little car with low running costs. Not as luxurious as others (such as the mini) but then for the price tag you wouldn't expect it to be! Still looks great on the inside and out!

    The Upsides:

Its a fun little car to drive, having a bit of poke when it needs it, easily matching my previous Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 16V SRI yet pulling in much more to the gallon. Petrol consumption is good, insurance just £20 a month for me a 24 year old with 4 years no claims and taxing the car is cheap too. As we have the facelift model it looks really good when its all cleaned up!! Its comfortable on long journeys. The bootspace is much better than my Corsa, fitting in a whole weeks shopping!!

    Downsides:

In this last year we've spent £500 having the wiring loom and oxygen sensor replaced. We've also replaced the front brake discs and pads, had new windscreen wash pump replaced twice, new tyres all round, and had a problem with the automatic lights. Overall spending about £800 on repairs in a year, not including the general servicing and MOT costs. Now the mornings are colder the car is also struggling to start first time. Although the Renault Dealership is expensive, I find the service friendly and helpful.

I am now looking for a newer larger car, even though I've had mechanical problems with my Clio, I would recommend them to a friend as a good little car thats stylish, fun to drive and cheap to run.

    My car

In April this year I bought my first Clio 02 plate. Lovely looking cars, both inside and out and I absolutely love it to bits! Id read previous reviews about the running costs being low. However, I dissagree! I got 64 miles on £15 petrol and that was running it right down to almost empty! I travel about 50miles a day going to and from work and put £10 in the car each day religiously or I just dont get home! other than that my only other problem with the car would be the leg room (or lack of it) in the back! Youll be lucky to fit one, never mind 3 people comfortably in the back - its just not comfy! sun roof also rattles alot but Ive heard thats quite a common problem with these cars. only other fault is it tends to be temperamental when starting. One second it starts no problem then it just refuses. Bump starts usually do the job apart from the one time it had to be towed home. Coils seem to be going already and Ive only had the car 6months.

On the bright side for a 1.2 16V it can fairly move. Absolutely no problems at all on the motorway - Picks up quickly! I have on occasion found myself trying to have a sneaky little race down the motorway with a car 10times faster than my own and it doesnt let me down!

There nippy good looking little cars and Id recommend one anyday - just dont buy it from arnold clark and youll have no problem!

    My car

I have a 2002 51 plate Extreme. I bought this car when it was a year old and have had nothing but problems with it. It's been back Renault so many times it's a joke.

Problems Computer failed on it so i had to have a new one. Hazard lights didn't work so had a new button installed and now that's broken again. Air bag light came on reason unknown Drinks oil for a past time no fault found with it. Rear wheels locking up - breaks had siezed on. Breaks actual fell off three months ago AA to the rescue. This was week after Renault had so say done a 30 point check on it! Favourite trick at the moment is not starting. The key just turns over and nothing doesn't even try to start. This can happen at any time of the day sometimes it will start - yesterday it had to go to garage and they couldn't find a fault.

If your thinking of buying one of these don't bother. They're more hassle than they're worth and if anyone else tells me "that's quite a common fault with a Renault" I'm going to scream! My question is, what isn't?
