Having own this car now over 1 month, I find this car very good quality.
Something to take a note of, when I test drived a same spec car and a dynamique s 1.6. Two cars handled differently, obviously the power difference, but I found that the gear changing is better on the dynam1.6,it is much smoother. Mine feels crunchy when moving from 1st to 2nd, 3rd to 5th is fine though. (could be the demo 1.6 had wear in)
Steering is better with 16inch alloy wheels, low profile tyres possibly 40? Also braking is better, maybe it was the brembo brakes on the 1.6. Also the demo car had michelin tyres on them, but they gave mine some bridgestone tyres. I find that on my car with these tyres(bridgestone) when I rev at 2700rpm the wheel spin when cornering; didn't happen with the michelins.
So advice to all: when you get your new car, change to 16inch wheels with michelin tyres. You appreciate the handling will be so much better.
This car doesn't require induction kit at all if you ever going to replace the air intake unit, it already has a air duct connected to the front grill. Maybe just the filter itself. perhaps thats how they got the full 75bhp on a 1.2.
BTW , I chose the 1.2 because fuel economy is my priority. today price is £1/litre. I'm averaging 36mpg due to most city driving.
I have owned a Dynamique S Clio for a couple of weeks now and must say it's a very good runner, very smooth and the looks are just first rate. Have no problems with the door, you have to be careful because it's a big door but not heavy to open/close. So far so good.
I took delivery of the 1.4 Dynamique S with a panoramic electric sunroof on 4th March 2006.
Initially, I was very happy - that is until it rained. The sunroof leaked, and the garage tried twice to repair it without success. In the end the sunroof was cut out and then replaced but this did not cure the problem.
On May 19th, after many phone calls and visits to the garage, it was agreed that a replacement vehicle would be ordered, exactly the same specification as before. The new car was collected on 1st July, but it went back to garage on the 3rd as sunroof was leaking on this one.
I'm very unhappy with the manufacturer and garage. Again I am having to wait to find out what is going to happen next. The car looks fabulous, but I am thinking I would have been better off purchasing another make, as the stress is getting to me.
This car cut out at 40-50mph for no apparent reason, leaving me without any steering or brakes. The car was towed to the garage where we got a call the next day saying nothing was wrong with the car and we had to go and collect it. After an arguement with the dealership, the manager agreed to run the car and on his way to work the next morning the fault re-occured.
Then the glovebox, which has been faulty since the day we collected the car, was re-adjusted no fewer than seven times. The window wipers went on and off for no apparent reason, the parking sensors alerted you when there were no obstructions and yet if there was one it ignored it. As usual the garage kept saying that they could not find these 'intermitent' faults and handed the car back.
Then the backlights failed to work on the speedometer, so instead of booking the car in only to be told there was nothing wrong with it, I took the car straight to the garage, left it running and asked for an 'engineer' to come out and see for himself. He agreed that the fault was there and said that a new panel would have to be ordered from France.
Having had the run-around from the garage and Renault Customer Services, I ordered a new Vauxhall Astra which I took delivery of in January and have never been happier. I wonder if that part ever arrived from France? I guess I'll never know. This is the worst car and the worst manufacturer I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.
Please steer clear of Renault.
