This a very nice car to drive, which looks a lot more grown up to previous Clio models. I have the 1.2 extreme in Black with the extra tinted windows and the rear spoiler. I feel it has just finished it off. My friends are suprised the car only has a 1.2 litre engine, due to being very nippy. I have done 1200 miles and it has just about been run -in. Running costs are cheap, with the group of insurance being only 2 (very good for 21 year old). The spec is top noch for the money and safety is best in its class. Overall a very good car and money well spent.
p.s. can't wait to see the new Clio hothatch!
I think I may have spoken too soon on my first review of the Clio.
The door handle has been fine ever since, but the suspension mounts have now dried up. The driver's side mount has been replaced, but Renault (being as organised as they are) didn't have the passenger-side replacement at the garage on time, despite having two weeks to wait for the car to be sorted, and a week later I still haven't received a phone call!
It seems that the aftersales service still hasn't changed!
Further to my earlier review , I recieved an accident management pack from Renault in the post yesterday morning. Anyone else got one?
With the cost of fuel rocketing at the minute, I decided to downsize from my Astra SXi (1.6) to a smaller car. I was worried by the drop in engine size down to a 1.2 but have been pleasantly surprised by the Clio. In the lower gears its quite nippy - even with the extra weight of the new model. Driving on the motorway is not a problem either though overtaking takes a little more consideration!
The build quality of the Clio is apparent from the minute you drive it. The engine is silent, even at high speeds and wind noise is non existent. Economy is not bad though it doesn't quite get the official manufacturers figures.
Trim levels are good, you don't need to break the bank for alloys, CD, tinted windows etc which all come as standard on the Extreme. No air conditioning though but that's not really a problem in Scotland.
Overall, excellent car, great drive and at a good price.
