A comfortable well equipped car. Mine is a '96 2.2TD with 170,000 miles and going well.
I will try and get one again if I can -'01 maybe. Not very plentyfull in Ireland, maybe I will try England.
I have only owned this car for three months, but feel it to be good value.
It's four-years old with 94,000 miles and a full dealer history. The main thing I noticed about it is how comfy it is. The ride is great and the seats are great - although the back rest is quite short.
Practicality is good, there's plenty of leg room front and back, and the boot is good for a pram and two medium-sized dogs.
To drive it is reasonable, the gearbox is a bit sloppy, even though it has been serviced and a new selecter put in, in March this year.
The steering is a touch heavy in town but it's good the rest of the time. I do find though that you seem to have to turn the wheel a lot further than a lot of cars I've driven, which at first I found odd. Also ecomomy isn't as good as I expected at 35mpg no matter how I drive it, when my mate has a Passatt of the same age and gets nearer 50mpg.
I have a 99T reg Renault Laguna 2.0-litre executive hatchback.
I'm very pleased with the car, except for the fact that when I go on a long run, the auto gearbox goes into safety mode. I then have to stop to switch off the engine and let the car cool down for 10mins then its OK for another few miles.
If I stay at a maximum of 60mph and do not use cruise control it's fine.
Very comfy and stylish but the gearbox lets this car down - it's very chunky.

Owned for 1 year, as family runabout Pros good size, general build quality, powershift gearbox, good to drive, low costs Cons handling slighly…
Had this car for 90k from new. A 56 plate. In over 2,000,000 miles driven this one has broken down the most of any car I have had. DO NOT get a 2.0…
