After doing some proper research and keeping fuel economy, gadgets and safety as a priority we chose to go for the Megane cc. The Megane cc 1.5dci Dynamique was £15000 with £3000 off plus comfort pack, folding mirrors, parking sensors and GB plates. I have had the car for over five months now and I can say it’s not as economical as the Clio with the same engine but I get 46-49mpg doing town driving which equates to roughly 650 miles a tank. This is not a very fast car (0-62 in 12.2 seconds) but the acceleration from 40-70mph is amazing. Meaning over taking and cruising is just amazing. With the top down you get more attention than a little bit, but I do like that. Cruising at a constant speed of 70mph the best I have had is 62.4mpg which gave me an amazing range of 738miles on a single tank. I have read the horror stories about this car before I bought it but there seems to be a pattern most cc before 2005 seems to have had lots of problems, but so far the only problem I have had is explaining to the wife to be why there were so many women giving me attention. I am confident that after the second phase of the Megane cc they have rectified the problems if not then the extended warrantee is there. Not only is it one of the only convertibles to score 5 stars on the ncap testing it’s also one of the least polluting convertible you can buy. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a convertible but especially any man in the midlife crisis.
I bought my Megane CC dynamique DCi106 S in June 2007. I traded in a 206CC which was much loved but not big enough if you had more than 2 passengers. After 1 month of having the car it developed a leak much to my disapointment. I returned to the dealership only to have approximately 49 days that the garage tried to fix the leak. I ask for a new car, as i wasn't prepared to keep dropping off the car on a Monday collecting on a Friday and over the weekend it would rain and back to the garage it would go on a Monday. So i got a brand new car exactly the same as the previous one in October 2007. Only this one has a leak as well. I stupidly opened the roof by mistake in December and after that day there has been a leak that has not be repaired. my car has now been in the garage for over 2 weeks. I have asked for a full refund as i no longer wish to own this car. Don't get me wrong i love the cardless key system and the 6 CD multichanger which i received as an upgrade because the car was a limited edition and they didn't have the same spec'd car that i had previously bought. I just hope that anyone buying a car of this design reads this review as i have gone through 10 months of hell. what is the point in buying a convertible if you can't take the roof down on a sunny day.
I've just bought a 1.6 Dynamique CC in Pearl black for my wife, and couldn't be happier with it. We only paid £11995 for it brandnew (uk spec import) although there is nothing on the log book to say its an import.
Looks great in black, tons of kit, climate control, cruise control, electric everything, 17" alloys, build quality on 2006 onwards cars appears to be far better than early models, I had a 3dr meagne in 2003 when they had just come out and that had squealing brakes, at the time they didn't have a fix for it.
The 1.6 is a bit under powered, it was ok in the 3 door but the CC weighs a bit more, its fine at cruising but acceration is a bit poor unless you floor it.
Handling, its no sports car, and the suspension is softer to allow for the fact its a drop top, but its a comfy ride and grips well.
Equipment, Fully loaded, great value at £12000, not sure Id pay £19000 from a dealer as my import will only lose £2000 in year 1, and a uk car will lose about £6000, and the only differnce is an import doesnt have a factory fitted alarm.
Costs,For £12000 you can get a mid range fiesta or this.Servicing will be the same rip off as all new cars if you go to a franchised dealer, but you can always go to an independet as new eu law means it wont effect your warranty, 18000 mile intervals are good.
Overall, My wife loves it, she had a golf cabriolet a few years ago, but that leaked, had airbag problems and was as noisy as hell. This is better.
I am on my second Megane CC having traded in a troublesome 04 2.0 petrol.
Everythign that could go wrong did, faulty electrics, leaking roof, brake noise (eventually repaired for free after much discussion), faulty air bags, loose trim) The only thing that worked was the roof mechanism. I chose my car over a 307CC for reliability!!!!
The main problem was the dealer, after spending nearly 20K (BMW or Merc money), I expected a little more!!
I did love the way it looked though, and even when three year sold it still turned heads.
I traded it in for a facelifted black 105dci model. Within weeks, the brakes were making noises and the roof was leaking.
The engine is great, it carries me (6ft) and a few friends and easily gets 60mpg on a cruise. The car looks great in black and the minor improvements from the facelift make it a much better car.
It looks great roof up or down.
Would I buy another?
I wouldn't go back to Renault if they paid me!!!

Amazing car, once driven, never forgotton, forget all the pretenders like BMW Z4 and Mercedes SLK, they will never have the passion of a Porsche
I love this car! Handling is great, its fun to drive and even reasonably practical!
