The 6-speed gearbox is very notchy, the 5-speed on the 1.6s is far smoother. Even on a good run I struggle to get better than 33mpg. Average at present is 29mpg. I drive 30,000 miles of mixed miles per year. Overall reliability has been good. Only issues to date were squealing front brakes at 7,000 miles, after THIRD visit to dealer I was told modified pads have been made, these were fitted all round under warranty and have cured the problem. Keyless entry not too bad. Exterior button on drivers door handle had to be replaced when it became stuck. It also seems to go through tyres quite quickly as well. 15,000 miles being avverage for this car. Servicing costs high. 18,000 mile service £180, 36,000 mile service £380!!!! (London prices??). Would I get another? - Frankly, no. Uninspiring drive, notchy gearbox, and the fact that at 18 months old with 36,000 miles on the clock, I will struggle to get £7500 for this £14,000 car. Thanks but no thanks.
I have now had the 1.9 dCi for one year. I previously had a 1.9 diesel Bravo, which was a pretty entertaining but flawed driving experience. The Megane is more refined, though not necessarily entertaining.
It's at its best when out on the open road and motorways. It has plenty of power to overtake with ease. In town, it's a little less of a pleasure, due to the less than light steering and its ability over potholes. This however is a fairly minor quibble as the car has been thoroughly reliable and economical.
I like the interior, which is well designed and high quality. Overall I'm happy with the car, it offers a good balance between comfort and power. Perhaps not the most exciting in the class but recommended all the same.
I have owned my 5000 mile Megane for just a week now, and the difference between it and my old style Megane is like chalk and cheese.
I hope it will be more reliable too. I am loving the car so far. My only niggle is the squealing brakes. The spec is excellent, the engine nice, although a little rumbly on moving off. I am guessing this is normal.
I love all the toys, and it looks great. I just hope things don't start going wrong...
The car looks good on the outside, and feels good driving it from the inside.
Despite a few niggles, I still enjoy driving it.

My late 2010 1.6 CRDI has covered 43,000 miles in just over 18 months. The good. So far the car seems totally reliable. The interior still looks…
I just traded in my beloved 56 plate ST2 and I regret it. All I can say is buy one, the car is fantastic with the best thing being the noise the…
