52 plate. Wish I had never bought it. On third set of rear discs in 12 months, rust on driver's door - on a door skin put on by Renault UK themselves!!! Remote locking doesn't work and will cost £850 to fix and now an injection fault and fuel consumption has dropped from a constant 50.4 to only 41.3 mpg. Worst car I have ever bought and will never buy Renault again.
A powerful car with excellent aceleration, speed and dynamics. Fuel economy good at 31 MPG +. Nice cabin and all mechanicals good. Great motorway driving!
Only downside is the electrics. Problems with locking mechanism (handsfree) and lights. It is a maindealer job to change the indicator bulbs!Locking mechanism worked fine for 18 months then took five trips to the dealer to fix when it broke. When working though, it is great to not have to ever get the keys out of your pocket.
Never broken down and pretty good on front tyres. Lots of safety kit.
Service cost quite high but to be expected I suppose. Main dealer good but parts expensive. Discs and pads much cheaper from an independent garage.
Get a second hand, nearly new model and save a fortune. Not many quicker cars on the road. Good bangs for buck!
I love my 05 plate Megane 1.6 Dynamique 5-door. I loved it so much I made my husband buy a 55-plate Oasis 3-door version, too!
I love driving this car and I also love the safety element which gives me peace of mind with my toddler in the back.
The only downside I have faced recently is that I have had to call the AA out twice and take it to a Renault dealer (luckily under warranty), and just recently the driver seat adjustment handle snapped off without my knowledge.
Overall, though, it's a car which I would recommend to others.
Ive owned this car since March 2006, and so far so good.
This is the second Megane II that I have owned. I love the way the car looks, with its Eclipse grey paintwork, tinted rear windows and 17-inch alloy wheels make the car look the part.
Inside, the cabin is well screwed together, has some nice soft touch plastics, and overall looks very classy and modern.
The best thing about my car is the engine. The 1.5dCi unit is very sweet and pulls very strongly. Fuel economy is never less than 50mpg, and I don't exactly tootle around!
Areas for improvement - the boot is an odd shape which can sometimes make it awkward to fill up, and Renault service costs are outrageous!
Overall, the car is superb.
