it is a waste of mony, unsecure, very bad quality and unreliable
Just changed to this from Scenics so finding it difficult to remember this isn't a semi-auto handbrake so apologies if I roll into you on a hill!
Internal cabin quality very good, rear seat room and comfort top class, though disappointed that Renault have downgraded the standard options since August, losing heating ducts to rear passengers, footwell lighting, auto headlights/ windscreen wipers (which to be honest were at times a pain on the Scenic).
You can cruise efficiently in 5th at 30mph (just above engine idling speed) giving oustanding fuel economy, though top gears dislike slopes), yet if you have a need for speed, can boot it and it really flies!
Only downside is head room in front seats and boot TOO spacious without good access, and no rear wiper. [D,of Tyrone ]'s review nails it(above)
My grandfather has had this car since June 2007, and I have had the opportunity to drive it quite a bit since then. The cabin is nicely trimmed in dark expensive-feeling plastics, and it has good seats, with fantastic room for two people in the back - room for a third middle passenger is slightly limited due to the transmission tunnel, and the padding of the middle seat. I think that this sport saloon version of the Mégane is better looking than the hatchback or estate versions. The engine has proved fantastic so far, it is returning around 65mpg, which means my grandfather has to fill it up perhaps once every two weeks, since he doesn't do a great number of miles. The 6th gear is perfect for cruising on the motorway, as the engine is running just below 2000rpm at 70mph. The car has cruise control fitted as standard, along with a pretty decent stereo, alloy wheels, and a few other things that make driving the car all that more pleasant. There are a few downsides to this car, though. The headroom in the front is not outstanding, for one. I am 6'6" tall, and have to ratchet the seat down to its lowest level just to get into the car, and move the wheel as far up and out as it will go, to accomodate me in the driver’s seat. Also, when cold, reverse gear is hard to engage - this is a fault which has happened to every Mégane I’ve driven before. I also don’t like the single-tone horn! But, at this level, it's splitting hairs, this is a great car overall!
Well to start with, my father has just got this car and i had the chance to drive it a bit. Well from the initial impression i completely disliked the interior trim which is made out of poor plastic and cheap matierials. Compared to my Toyota Corolla Colour Collection, 1.4 VVT-i, 5 door hatchback this car really is cheap. As for performance then this car really fires up like a rocket and its quite fast! Sorry Renault i prefer to have a Toyota or a Honda! They are much more better! Sorry once again!
