I can't wait to get rid of this car!! Yet some garages have actually refused to take it in part ex!!! This is not due to the condition I assure you, it's due to the true fact that its an awful car in every sense. Firstly, the second day of owning the car, the spark plugs faulted. After a short while we started to get really impatient with the pulling power, being a 1.4 petrol, it felt more like a HGV. Roundabouts are scary, you just close your eyes and go for it as it is sooo slow. The interior of the car is cheap and it shows as it is falling to pieces. The plastic steering wheel is unforgivable!! The windscreen wipers are supposed to be automatic however, it can often be bearly drizzle outside and they go buzzerk. To top it all off, spark plugs went again within the same year, and this time cost around £120.00, didnt dare go to renault dealer though. Finally, recently my key card decided not to work, will have to replace through renault at a HUGE cost of £170.00 FOR ONE KEY! This is the final straw, were looking for a vauxhall zafira now which are supposed to be excellent compared with other mpv's. Your probably thinking why did you buy a 1.4?? Well me too, please read carefully.....CAR DEALERS CANNOT SELL THIS CAR, DONT BE LURED BY THE PROMISE OF FUEL ECONOMY, MY 1.4 PETROL AVERAGES AT 29 MPG!! I CANT AFFORD FOR ANYTHING ELSE TO GO WRONG... Insurance is ok at group 4, but this is the only plus side.
I bought My car as a 1 year old car and it was on a 54 plate. As other people have mentioned the ignition coils were a bit of a problem (replaced 3 times)but were covered under the warranty so no problem really. (NOTE:these are also covered under an extended warranty too!!) Passanger window once stopped working and so did the sensored handles on 2 of the doors but yet again all of these things were covered under the warranties. Apart from what ive mentioned the car has been a pleasure to drive. I have just re-ordered the new plate for September 08 and this time im going for a diesel. The petrol cars are not that economical(approx avarage:34mpg) I will say that the reason that im renewing my car is because if i did not have the warranty then i would be concerned about the costs of if another thing did go wrong!! As with any car things do go wrong from time to time; its just nice to know that the things that did go wrong were fixed free of charge. My advice: Get Extended warranty!! Its worth itin the long run!!
DONT OWN A RENAULT CAR AFTER ITS WARRENTY HAS RUN OUT. FIRST 3 YEARS NO PROBLEM, THEN EVERY THING! FAULTY WINDOWS, ELECTRIC WINDOWS GO UP AND DOWN OF THEIR OWN ACCORD EVEN WHEN PARKED IN A CARPARK.NOW AT ONLY 41K MILES THE DIGITAL SPEEDO HAS PACKED UP.£550 TO REPLACE. AND ARE RENAULT CUSTOMER SERVICES HELP FULL.NOT ONE BIT!!" WE TREAT ALL CASES ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS ".......BUT YOURS IS OUT OF WARRENTY SO UP YOURS BLAH BLAH YOURS RESPECTIVLY RENAULT CUSTOMER SERVICES.MY ONLY SATISFACTION IS GOING TO BE STANDING OUTSIDE THE LOCAL DEALER WITH A PLACKARD STATING POOR SERVICE
Whatever you do please DO NOT buy this car,you WILL regret it in the end,i have had mine for 4months and its going to cost £1,800 to fix,the console that holds the indicators, wipers etc, is broken, also has sqeeky seats umteen rattles.....buy a Ford
