Very capable and underrated.
Spacious and comfortable with excellent handling but an overly firm ride.
The 83PS engine is a little underpowered and needs revving hard. The higher-powered engine is a much better option for not a lot more money.
I have owned this car for two years and I can honestly say I will never have another.
Problems from the word go - water pump, driver's window falling in, boot lock just failed, and lots of other niggly things which have made it seem like the problems never end.
The car is a lovely drive but for reliability I couldn't recommend it to anyone.
I have now owned this car for two years and can honestly say that I have had nothing but problems. Some larger problems include needing to replace the engine-management system, engine wiring loom, driver's window after it fell into the door while driving, replacing the boot lock after this failed internally, a faulty alarm and leaking shocks to mention just a few! All this from a car less than four years old!
I can by no means recommend this car. Two colleagues of mine also have newer 25s and both are experiencing similar ongoing problems!
I have test driven this car and was very disappointed with the cabin. The elecric window switch came away from the housing when I dropped the window. There were lots of rattles when going a speed. The brakes were excellent.
I own a rover 25 /04 and went to buy the new-style rover but I would not swap it for the new model.
