This car is a pleasure to drive, look at and sit in. There is plenty of leg room in the back for adults not just children. However, the shape of the front seatback plus high door sill makes the rear difficult to get into and out of.
The dealer where I bought the car was the worst I have ever come across and I now use a small family-run dealer. The car kept cutting out and the AA said it was a faulty fuel pump. The dealer kept saying it was out of fuel.
When it happened in France, the dealer there said it was the fuel pump and changed it as promptly as I changed dealer.
Having had seven Saabs over the last 27 years I was hesitant at first to change makes.
We looked at several alternatives, such as Volvo, Skoda and Vauxhall but weren't all that impressed. We took a test drive in the Rover 75 CDTI Tourer and fell in love with it straight away. We have had the car two and a half years now and I still think it's great.
Nothing has fallen off and there was only one small rattle, which was cured without bother.
The ride generally is second to none, the diesel motor excellent. Running costs are fine. I've no grumbles and still enjoy driving the car. Who said we can't make decent cars in this country?
I think this car has been underated. It's best value for the price - a poor man's rolls.
I owned a rover 75 for eight months before an electrical fault caused the car to burst into flames in a car park whilst I was away from the vehicle.
Rover has quite happily buried their heads in the sand over this saying the fault was caused by "wear and tear".
This has, as you can understand, filled me with overwhelming confidence in the manufacturing and parts used in the construction of these vehicles and the so called warranty on these vehicles. Rover couldn't even seem to be bothered to come out and have a look at the vehicle to ascertain whether thay need to be investigating this further and decide if a defective batch of wiring looms could have been supplied.
In the time that I owned the car, it was sent in for warranty work on several occassions. So I would say that the quality of the car has been allowed to come second best to packing it out with as many gadgets as possible for as little cost as possible.
