    My car

A quality car with all the attributes associated a safe and enjoyable drive. The build quality is good and performance cannot be faulted. Being fairly heavy-footed, response is very positive and yet a steady 43mpg is returned.

The interior finishes are well above average and instrument layout and controls well thought-out. This car is fantastic!

    My car

Have owned for approx one year having bought in preference to ubiquitous 3-series and must admit to being a little disappointed. This is my first Saab having owned two BMWs previously, one of which was a diesel. The riding and handling are good, however the engine is incredibly noisy and unrefined. I haven't driven the new 1.9 but I believe, from what a mechanic at the Saab dealership told me, its just as bad. The most disappointing aspect by far, however, is the build quality. It simply is not good enough for a £20K car. The door trims in my car started to rattle after only 3 days. This was replaced but it is rattling again. Driving over speed humps these days is accompanied by a cacophony of creaks and squeaks. This is a real shame because I still like the styling. My overall impression is that the 3 series is better built and any savings there may be are simply not worth it.

    My car

Great looking. Interior is well designed and quality of material is superb. The interior impresses without fuss, unlike its German rivals. The layout and ergonomics is second to none in its class and overall comfort and seat quality is excellent.

Build quality is not good. Although the car is extremely quiet from outside noise for a big fast car, the inside noise from rattles and other bits let it down. It's a joy to drive but not for a racer. Steering gets a bit too light at high speed. Overall I am a little disapponited by the build quality. I expected more from Saab.

    My car

A stunning car. The diesel engine's perfomance is great.

I took the Saab on a long test drive, and couldn't believe how good it actually was.

I had initially thought of it as a second choice but it is now top of my list!

And it was more than capable of keeping up with a Porsche Boxster!
