have had this car 30 months, great seats cabin and generous kit and really practical but a bit thirsty even for an anuto and a so-so ride. Overall a nice car and you wont see too many on the road.
Rear leg room poor especially when drivers seat in the furthest back position. Good car to drive, reasonable fuel ecconomy
After viewing the Saab 9-3 sports Wagon on several occasion & dare I say it beginning to love the style. I went for a test drive around the London airport area in a 150bhp Linear SE manual. Yes I was quite impressed. Big smiley faces all around. But I quite fancied one with the parchment interior. I looked on the net & would you believe I found a black manual & a blue Auto 6 miles down the road. Excellent! So off I went to look at the 2 Linear SE Sports Wagons. When I got there, I realized I did not like the black manual one. So arranged a long test drive in the blue auto. I loved the auto box after living with it for a few hours, but I drove it on the Motorway & I did not like the ride. It felt very unsettled over bumps in the road. So did the steering which seemed to be a little wayward when going over the bumps. It felt like it rocking from side to side very slightly, maybe this was exaggerated by the soft seats. I'm not going to give up yet, I'm going to take a Vector Sport Sports Wagon auto on a extended test drive next weekend, I'm hoping it will be great on the Motorway, Otherwise its back to the drawing board on finding a suitable set of wheels. Has anyone else experienced these strange ride characteristics? The Saab Salesman looked a bit mystified. Maybe it was that particular car I drove? Or maybe not? We will see next week!
This car has it all! Ive had my used 93 AERO 1.9 TTID for 2months now and its absolutely brilliant. Before I owned a very boring merc c class and wondering whether to replace it with the new shape c class or the new A4 avant, but the Saab offers a lot more car for money saving me 3k from the equivalent spec merc. The TTID unit is extremely powerful making overtaking a breeze. The sound system is very good, seats are superb and leg room is very good for 6fts +. The boot isn't huge with the rear seats up, however fold them down and its massive. it has all the goodies you would expect, sat-nav, sensors etc all working spot on.
Will look forward to the servicing costs compared the merc. No problems to date, so far its happy driving. My advise is definitely buy one, don't waste your money on a badge (bmw)! Buy from an approved Saab dealer and with things the way they are you could end up getting a real bargain.
