My car

Contrary to the view of Mr Simpson, this car is aweful.

It's very sluggish and hugely slow.

It accelerates about as fast as my guinea-pig and traction is aweful.

Dated, boring, cheap, rubbish

My car

This Seat Alhambra is the best car I have ever had. On the motorway, it's an excellent cruser and on the four-lane motorways it is excellent at a speed of 120mph.

It's an excellent tower for my 1495kg caravan - once my caravan got stuck in some mud and my Alhambra just pulled it out as though it wasn't there - and it's not even four-wheel drive.

When I was in the Alps (I go to Italy every year in my car), a Vauxhall Zafira got stuck up a hill and smoke was coming out of it, so they asked me for help and my Alhambra pulled it up easly with six passengers. The hill had a 33% gradient.

I live on a farm so you would think I need a 4x4 to go around the fields and tow my horse trailer, but my Alhambra can do all that, so I don't need to get a Land Rover Discovery.

This car is such a strong car - my sister has a Land Rover Discovery which got stuck, and I could not believe that the Alhambre pulled it out.

I'm not geting a new car until this one is dead.

Had this car since 2003 now done 90000 miles and absolutely no problems, except front electric window once dropped. Get 40 mpg and its very comfortable to drive, especially over long distances like from bottom of France. Love all of the extras like heated seats, sports suspension and cruise control which others make you pay for. Am selling it now and choosing between another Alhambra or an S Max.

My car

I just picked up my third Alhambra, an ex-demonstrator.

I started with the 90bhp TDI about eight years ago, then swapped it for a 115bhp version five years ago, and still see my original one being driven as a taxi locally.

I tow a moderate-size caravan, which the 115bhp handled with ease - the 90bhp struggled a bit on long hills.

I'm looking forward to testing the 140bhp in a few days' time, having got 2000 miles on the clock.

The car is full of goodies, is very easy to drive, and comfortable on long runs.

I agree with a previous review that at 40,000 miles things may start to fail - I had the air-conditioning renewed at 35,000 miles, and some steering bits needed earlier renewal.

However, I only do about 8000 miles a year, so it's not a major problem.

Overall, it's an excellent MPV.
