    My car

2001 Alhambra 1.8T. RHD bought in UK and used in Sweden

Good points: 1.8T engine is lively and interior space is good. It appeared reasonable value (£15k on the road).

Bad points: Air-conditioning failed after 3 months (local Sweden dealer refushed to touch it because he believes the original UK dealer did the damage when fixing a rattle behind the IP).

Interior trim falls off constantly (ash trays, rear door access flaps).

Windscreen wipers siezed - corrosion inside the shaft bushes. HVAC control unit packed in after 2 years - £150 replacement cost.

Passenger door electric window mechanism failed after 3 years - glass tied up with string now. Eats headlamp bulbs and tail lamp bulbs.

High mounted brake light has packed in.

Rear fog lamps leak - water builds up inside and then drips on your head when you open the trunk.

Passenger seat armrest very loose and will not tighten. 'Soft paint' in interior trim peels off.

Overall: Extremely disappointed with this vehicle. Will never buy Seat again. We have abandoned the car on the driveway in Sweden - I would be too ashamed to sell this to anyone.

Lesson learned: If you do buy an Alhambra make sure you buy it from a local dealer that can provide you with the Warranty repair service.

    My car

This is my second Alhambra, I have had this one three years now, not had a single problem at all with it.

Six kids, ran a youth footy team at weekends and use it for work, for which it is very economical.

Comfortable with great all-round visibility I'd reccomend it to anyone thinking of buying a people carrier.

    My car

    I own a 2001 Alhambra 115 TDI S for my business as a private hire/chauffeur driver.

It has now covered 126,000 miles with very little trouble. I have serviced the vehicle every 10,000 miles.

The only small problem is that the interior trim has come loose in a couple of places and is starting to look a little shabby.

This is more to do with the type of use the car gets I think. For this reason I am in the process of looking to buy a newer (2004?) Alhambra (SE spec?) because this one has been so good and value for money compared to the Sharan & Galaxy.

    My car

This is the best vehicle I've ever driven. It does what it's supposed to do comfortably and economically.
