Had this car for nearly 3years now ,had a hard life but done everything i hoped it would .Not the prettyest of cars more of an anti car statement , driven by people that dont care for labels .
A few trim issues , with the rear boot release not always working ,as this is the only way you can open the boot this is very annoying .Great MPG , wth this noisy old diesal engine that will go on & on .
Great load carrier too this car offers all you need from a car to get you & your crew form A to B with no frills .
Cant beleive no central locking !! electric windows who needs them .
Dealer always busy ok sevice not the best .
Armed with several on-line quotes and the "What Car Target Price" I had no problem in securing a good price deal on my new Fabia Ambiente 1.9TDI.
Deceptively small from the outside, the car's interior is volumous and it drives and feels like a much bigger car. The engine has massive torque for such a small car and pulls strongly from 1500 RPM.
It is ideally suited to stop-start city traffic: it chugs along nicely at 900 RPM without the need to use the throttle pedal. For motorway driving the engine develops maximum torque at 70mph and the car is very responsive for overtaking.
Driven sedately. I have achieved 81mpg on the 23 mile drive to work. Oil consumption during the first 10000 miles has been negligible. I thoroughly recommend this car.
Have owned this car from new and covered 40,000 miles. It works in every respect although the lack of central locking is a pain. supremely economical. Ideal for a growing family.
I think that either the reviews of the Fabia Silverline Estate were written by Skoda employees or I have a dodgy vehicle. Two months after purchase in Jan 2004 it was having it's engine rebuilt!. It took FIVE weeks. Although we had a loan car, the performce displayed by Skoda and the dealer in East/ Essex area London left plenty to be desired. I have always felt and still feel that the vehicle is sluggish and not economical. Customer services at their HQ just about useless. Highly paid for doing not an awful lot. I sent them and the HQ in Czechoslovakia numerous emals to no avail.
