    My car

My previous car was a 1.4 16v Fabia Elegance. The new Fabia compares well with my previous experience with Skoda - which has been good.

I had ESP and all-round disks added. One surprise is that the brakes are not as effective as on my previous Fabia. On that 04 reg car the (all-round disk) brakes were really fierce but once you got used to that then they were absolutely invaluable.

Inside comfort is superior to my previous Fabia. In use the driver's side wind noise on the motorway is a real pain and something Skoda should have spotted at the design stage.

The ride is firm but acceptably so. It handles well around corners (but not as well as my ageing 306). Acceleration through the gears is excellent with max torque around 4000rpm

Minor point: the car is higher than the previous Fabia so the radio aerial catches on my garage door. I had to buy a shorter aerial . . .

    Overall worth the outlay.

    My car

please see my other review. just would like to add that i took my fabia in for it's first service yesterday and mentioned the wind noise problem, they said it's a known fault and have agreed to replace the drivers side wing mirror! i am still very very happy with the car, the fuel consumption has improved recently, due i think to the engine being run-in a bit. just over 8,000 miles

    My car

Having driven the car for 6 months I would say the drive is very enjoyable. It feels like a much bigger car in motorway driving. It does seem to drink fuel when its at its best though, and with diesel prices its beginning to pinch. I could still do without that chunky plastic cladding around the handbrake.
