I have just ordered my third one and no I'm not a glutton for punishment. I know what pleases my eye, is good to drive, gives good service and is kind to my pocket. The only things I have had to replace are tyres and one wing mirror, thanks to an HGV driver (he paid), and even that was reasonable. Average 52 MPG overall. We have a Guide Dog, plus we had one retired, and the back is ideal for them, never used a Dog Guard. Only extras bought are boot mat @ £47 and rear mudflaps @ £15, (why not standard on the rear when they are on the front?)
Got this car in March 2006 and have done 65,000 in less than 2 years. The economy is fantastic. I generally get 55mpg on the motorways. My only complaint is that there isn't enough legroom behind the drivers seat (I'm 6ft2) for passengers of any size! The equipment level is very good. I could have had an Elegance, but couldn't justify the cost for largely cosmetic features. Will probably have another one when this one is up for renewal. I would recommend this car to anyone. An absolute pearl of a car, and more reliable than anything else from the VW/Audi/Seat fold.
I have driven this car for over a year now and it is just 2 years old, travelling 10 000 miles. Average mpg is 47, 50+ on motorways. Build quality is all I had hoped and the many features of this model work first time, every time. Especially useful to us is the programmable driver's seat as my wife & I enjoy a height difference of 10" & are frequently changing drivers. The engine & DSG gearbox match well, although first gear seems a little low at times. Boot space is enormous and has many options. My only criticisms are that the front door pillars occasionally obscure vision &, being tall, I find the position of the handbrake awkward. I intend to keep this car for a long time & would recommend it to anybody wanting a top-of-the-range family car.
I have had my estate for 1 year now and covered 39k travelling around the UK and occasionally abroad. As I had an Octavia previously which was excellent apart from poor leg room in rear I decided to go for the new model which is more comfortable with excellent equipment level.Huge boot that also includes a full size alloy spare(dont see that very often) My only problem is I went for the 105hp PD as the Manufacturing figures for MPG were very good 45-67.These figures were similar to my old Octavia that reached 67MPG on a test returning from Scotland one time with the boot fully loaded with tools and 3 10 litre gas cylinders cruising at 65mph but the best I have been able to get so far is 52 MPG driving at similar speed.Apparantly they have fitted a higher density catalyst to reduce CO2 levels which creates greater back pressure and burns more fuel(how does that help the environment). And this is thier most economical Model. Putting this aside I do reccommend the new Octavia and if you can get over the badge thing your onto one of the best cars on the road.
