Good build quality - feels solid.
Very economical car - I regularly achieve 60mpg on a long drive if speed is kept to the national speed limit.
You get "a lot" for your money compared to other makes.
Large boot - extensive space if rear seats are lowered.
Minus point is back-seat legroom is rather limited.
Super quick needs a little more torque. Embaresses BMW drivers. In yellow, it's a real head-turner.
Shreds tyres due to addictive power surge. Tends to get scratched by envious VW, Audi or BMW drivers.
Purchased new in August 01. Having searched for a car which would give performance with economy and comfort (I am 6'2'' and find most cars cramped).
I test drove many, but always found the Octavia back at the toop of my list again.
The only fault i have found with it has been the egress of water on opening the hatchback, I find it very comfortable both for short and long journeys, regularly returning 44+ mpg. The boot is carernous. The seating gives plent of adjustment making it comfortable for all sizes.
It drives well, with good all-round performance (too quick at times) and handling. The brakes are excellent, proving plenty off stopping power under any circumstances.I would have another one any day.
