    My car

Since I last wrote a comment for these pages, I'm now on 28,000 miles and the car, my 2.0 diesel Elegance has been back to the main dealer twice for an issue with the airbag light. Apparently, whilst cleaning it inside, move the seats at your peril as it upsets the airbag sensor and triggers the light. I've also had a persistent oil warning light too which has meant a replacement oil pressure switch. The car was full of oil and yet the light stayed on. Both issues have been cleared up under warranty and without any fuss. I'm waiting for the next zero percent finance offer and I'll be back to my dealer for my third Octavia.

    My car

I'm just coming up to 20,000 miles in six months of ownership with this car. It has an excellent ride and handling is good, although the tracking goes off quite quickly. The DSG is brilliant.

The only problem I have encountered has been excessive wind noise, which my dealer is hopefully fixing next week. It has great build quality and equipment levels and a huge boot which has been very useful. Highly recommended.

    My car

2.0 FSI Elegance Hatchback with optional 17" alloys and sports suspension.

I looked at several other cars before even considering the Skoda, each one just disappointed in one way or the other.

I first test drove the 2.0 turbo diesel, and having driven the previous generation VW turbo diesel, was disappointed at the performance. A test drive with the 2.0 FSI was a revelation, this is a flexible engine and provides the car with more than enough performance for normal driving conditions. Economy is very good as well, currently 37mpg average.

Handling is good the car feels firmly planted and comfort is not compromised at all by the sports suspension.

The main plus points with this car though are the build quality, as good as Audi, and practicality, the boot is huge.

It may have a Skoda badge, but this car is the best use that the VW group have made of the Golf platform.

    My car

Never in a million years did I think that driving a Skoda would give me so much pleasure.

My 2.0TDI is complimented by the lowered Skoda suspension and sports alloys and goes like stink very economically, averaging 500-520 miles to the tank.

It handles perfectly for a car with a heavy front end and sticks to a corner like glue.

Equipment levels are good, and the trim is of a very good quality and the cabin is comfortable.

I cannot fault this car one bit, and as a company car driver that's had all the Fords and all the Vauxhalls you can think of, the Skoda Octavia offers the best, all round value for money drive.
