I bought this car new in May 08 and it has been superb. The car handles well and the acceleration is excellent especially in higher gears. The economy is also excellent and i am averaging 45mpg. The build quality is superb and everyone who has seen the car has been impressed. I would recommend this car to anyone as well as the dealer who has provided a 1st class service. This is a superb car which i look forward to driving every day.
Have owned this car since October and am about to clock up 10K miles. I still look forward to driving it every day. Like many diesels it is a little unresponsive under 15 MPH unless you really floor it and the turbo kicks in. this is with traction on - I haven't tried switching it off. But once moving it is effortless acceleration through 3rd, 4th and up. Every passenger I've had has been impressed by the build quality in the cabin and shocked by the acceleration. The road holding is awesome although the stiffend suspension can be a little harsh over the ubiqutous road bumps. In conclusion :I love this car!
Bought a June 07 Demonstrator in Feb 2008 from main dealer. Having now covered 11k the car is running sweet. I enjoy every mile, look forward to driving it every time. I can get 55mpg if I try but on average I get 42, should get better with age. Acceleration is phenomeanal, especially in 3rd gear upwards. Not the easiest car to drive in slow traffic in 1st/2nd gear but get used to it.
Good spec, good quality cabin and build. Seats and wheel adjust well to suit most people. Good options are Maxi-dot,Cruise, Park assist although cruise can be retrofitted easily.
Only issue was slight twitchyness at speed, soon fixed with a 4 wheel laser allignment. Most VAG cars have incorrect adjustment from factory. Much better ride now.

Having test driven both the Seat Leon FR and the Octavia 1.8TSI the Octavia wins on all points. The engine is superb, pulling strongly from 1,500rpm all the way to the redline. Cruise at 70mph in 6th and the revs are at 2,500. Very good for fuel economy. I'm still running mine in but am still getting 33mpg around town.
The ride is good, being slightly firm, but more comfortable than the models with sports suspension. The level of equipment is amazing. The only option I chose was the tyre pressure monitor - everything else is standard.
For the money nothing else beats it. It is so well put together, the interior is a fine place to be. The leather seats are great, all electric adjustment for the drivers seat, the setting of which can be transferred to the central locking key fob, of which there are two. Handy if you have to keep adjusting the seat every time you get in your vehicle. Blip the button and you seat is adjusted for you.
The stereo in the L&K is excellent. It has a 6 CD in dash option (rather than being in the boot, as with lesser models) which can also take MP3 recordings. There is also a socket for an MP3 player. The sound quality is fantastic; there are 8 speakers delivering deep bass to crisp treble.
Forget the badge - buy a great car.
