    My car

I traded in my Toyota Yaris for the then 3-year old '02 plate Toyota Corolla to accommodate child number two. Within twelve months the gearbox bearings needed replacing, costing me £900.

Next, the management light came on. The dealer ran the dignostic checks which were inconclusive and they just reset it so the light went off.

Sure enough the management light came back on. This time the diagnostic check pin pointed the problem being a new ECU (£700) and if that did not work then I would need a new CAT (£500).

Work needed doing for both items. But I complained beforehand about these items to Toyota GB, which I wish I had done with the gearbox, because complaining got these items at half price saving me about £550. Labour was unfortunately full whack at £40 per hour.

So running costs for those items alone totals about £1500. Add to that brakes at over £300 it has been an expensive car to maintain. Would love to get rid but still paying for the damn thing. Would never buy another Toyota.

    My car

I've owned the T3 Auto from new for nearly 4 years, covering over 60K miles. It's proved totally reliable, economy around 35.5mpg (near claimed mileage). It's comfortable on long runs & is a pleasure to drive. I'm normally look to change around 3 yrs, but am so pleased with this car I'm keeping it well beyond "normal" date. No squeaks/rattles at all & only problems have been rear struts & small engine oil leak picked up during service .. all fixed under warranty. Service charges reasonable for main dealer. I'll certainly will go with Toyota again.

    My car

I had to change my car for something a bit more economical and newer, my wife drives a Yaris so when we booked it in for a service at our local dealer we spotted the 02 plate corolla at the back. It had just come in, a 5 door T-Spirit with auto box and full colour sat nav with 40,000 miles. Haggled the price down to just under £8000 and brought it on the spot. I'm very impressed with this car, it does'nt feel like a Toyota Corolla, very well built and great to drive- I've read all the reviews here and I'm very suprised at the problems people have been having. I've encountered a few, front passenger seat was loose, rear view mirror fell off when I collected the car and one wiper didnt work! The garage sorted all these out straight away, so no problems there. One thing I hate about this car is the amount of petrol this goes through, I barely get 250 miles to the tank. Really annoying as its very underpowered, I used to have an astra turbo diesel so I really noticed the lack of power in the first week. Its better now, I think I'm used to the car so the total is up to 300 miles per tank now. One reader here mentioned using Shell V Power, this has made a huge amount of difference in the power and the mileage I'm getting out the tank, 3 full tanks later I'm getting 350 miles, and thats with an auto box too. The only other thing I'm annoyed about is that it does not do pot holes very well

    My car

I bought this car after trading in my 2006 Yaris Ion. My car is a 2004 model. The Corolla is a great looking car, espeically in 3 door guise. The cabin is roomy and extremly well built, i really love the sporty front seats. The boot is massive! The 1.4 engine is really willing, it honestly keeps up with 1600 petrols! The brakes are also very responsive, especially as it has discs all round, most rivals don't! The only problem i have had is the 2 front lights needed replacing under warranty due to condensation, the Toyota dealership are splendid! Another concern is fuel economy, i only get 28mpg!!! If i drive like a learner then 30mpg is possible!
