i have just bought a mr-2 - its sleek and smart!!
I have recently upgraded from an MR2 T-bar turbo - it's much more fun to drive, cheaper to run, looks better, and handles better. You could say I'm impressed.
I've got a 2000-model year X-plate example with the hard-top and as I'm not a large person, I have no problems fitting in. I use the car every day and although I have to make twice as many trips to the supermarket, due to the lack of storage space, (I knew this when I bought the car), I am still quite happy and it gives me more excuses to use it.
It is quite plasticky inside, but that is my only gripe so far.
I did not get a handbook with car, so if anyone can help out with that i would be grateful - for instance, how do you get the bleedin' roof off?
My Roadster is 4 years old, has corroding alloys and now has signs of rust on the bonnet. It has (for the third time) developed a rattle from the heat shield becoming loose which makes it sound like an old banger.
Toyota have tried to rectify it but as i dont fancy shelling out for a new exhaust, i may yet have to live with it. This is my 3rd Mr2, and the old style coupe had a much better quality of finish to the Roadster. I enjoy the ride, and the handling, but the build quality has put me off buying another one.
After reading the review regarding corroded wheels, I feel I must also say I am experiencing the same problem.
The MR2 is a 2004 model bought in October and the alloy wheels have also corroded. I have been told it is the paint reacting with the alloy. I have been promised new wheels under warranty for the last two months, but have still had no replacements.
Apart from the wheel problem, the car is great fun and is a head-turner. I am really surprised Toyota has not done more to resolve this problem.
This poor-quality finish is the first thing people comment upon when the vehicle is left parked outside.
Come on Toyota, get it sorted. We paid top dollar for these cars.

Amazing car, once driven, never forgotton, forget all the pretenders like BMW Z4 and Mercedes SLK, they will never have the passion of a Porsche
I love this car! Handling is great, its fun to drive and even reasonably practical!
