Our third Toyota - never a breakdown over 250,000 miles. We have owned our Picnic "family fun vehicle" (who says the Japanese have no sense of humour!) since new i.e. 1997. The car has now done 155,000 miles and is still running strong. We intend to keep it until it goes wrong, which may be another 12 years. Fuel consumption isn't good - 30mpg. Handling isn't a strong point, but it's great on French motorways that have a better road surface than ours. The Picnic is exceptional when it comes to reliability and longlevity - it just goes on and on.
This van drives like a car, and has great acceleration in 2nd gear to approx 50mph. smmoth gear changes and quiet and stable at speed. The central seat bench slides to allow extra centra leg space. The storage places are well designed, the length of the car makes transport of bulky items very easy. Hard wearing interior. Seats fold right down to a double bed(with a few pillows to stuff the gaps). Mechanically exceptional, would be great for student life. would make a great taxi. Widely used airside in various international airports.
