    My car

My employer supplied a T Spirit about two years ago and it's now covered 23,000 miles. Like many Whatcar reviewers I was initially enthusiastic. It's a roomy well built car loaded with satnav etc. However, the more I drive it the more I dislike it. I don't know how people manage +50mpg in the real world. This one does about 45mpg - just like the Whatcar test achieved. Cold weather upsets the mpg and in London traffic I have seen this sink to an unbelievable 18.5mpg. The ride is harsh and jiggly on anything except smooth motorways and the steering is hard work. Sure, its nice and direct around town, but to keep it in a straight line on the open road requires constant adjustments. Finally, the price is huge for such a vehicle. I'm just glad it was not £19,000 of my money to buy this car. There are plenty of diesel cars which would be cheaper to run and more relaxing to drive. As for the green lobby they are deluding themselves. A car with two engines and a boot full of batteries has a greater whole-life environmental cost than a convential car.

    My car

I earlier owned 03 VW Polo, 04 Vauxuall Vectra LS and changed to Prius due to economy in fuel. Bought new Prius in sept 2006. I was pleasnatly surprised to see the interior as well as safety with this car.

Things i like about this car: less noisy in town, avarage milege 50-70 mpg and cheap insurance.

Things i do not like: Noisy when accelerates in motorway, bit scarey to drive in windy conditions as it is very light (but grip is good) plus milege is not great during cold temp. (< 50 mpg)

I got leather seats otherwise drive will not be great.

How long will i own this car? Possibly for many years

Will i buy another Hybrid? Possibly yes, but will need to think about Diesel cars too!!

    Overall Good, but not great.

    My car

I had this car for a two days trial. At first I was pleasantly surprised with all the room and the toys it has inside. No less than 16 buttons on the wheel! It took me a few minutes to work out how to get the dam thing started and moving forward. Once underway the centre display with all the toys was good fun, but soon the novelty factor disappeared!

As it is an automatic, driving it is very easy - put your foot down and go. It is quick enough, but is really noisy when you stick your foot down to the floor. I don't think it would be just so quick if the car had heavy good load in it. The car is also rather light - driving down the motorway in a cross wind is not good fun, but then again I am used to a Golf which sticks to the road! The rear view visability is not great due to a bar that cuts across the window. Parking sensors would be handy.

Overall, once I got over the novelty factor, I just found the car to be dull, and lets face it, with its looks, it is not going to pull the birds from the trees!

    My car

Here's some comfort for you MkII drivers. I have just completed 136,500 miles (2/3 Motorways : 1/3 non-motorways) in my MkI Prius. Defects? One replacement Engine Management Computer (c110K miles) & one new ignition key (both under Warranty), and four new discs at 120K miles. Otherwise, apart from the consumables, all original parts including exhaust system and all lightbulbs. Average 50mpg throughout. MkII soon to be bought, not surprisingly with build quality like that! Best journey: Dundee to Marlborough (465 miles) without stopping for fuel!
