The Yaris is a great little driver, very comfortable to drive,
It's got good vision, and is nippy enough round town. Once you build up speed, it will reach 90-100mph with no trouble.
The seats are very good, and the car does 55 mpg, which is very good.
The Yaris will turn heads around town, and the older model is a better finish of car than the newer model.
Put it like this - I'm on my third...
My first was a 2001 1.0S ex-courtesy car that was my first car and was hurled the length and breadth of Scotland when I was working in Inverness. It got traded at just under 3 years old with 58,000 miles on the clock (I covered 25k in the middle year alone) for Yaris #2.
2003 T3 D-4D which survived for 8 month and 16k miles before being written-off by a Honda Civic. Unfortunately I can confirm that crash protection is excellent.
#2 was replaced by #3 - a 2004 T3 D-4D which has done 53k to date and is almost 3 years old. I can see me keeping it though - there's nothing else I want to replace it.
Running costs are dirt cheap and there's loads of information on owners club sites like www.yarisclubuk.com
This car is well worth the high secondhand price. Stick to sensible motorway speeds and you will get 70mpg - yes really you will. There is the odd rattle inside but they can be sorted out easily. The Toyota roof bars are very clever; on and off in seconds. Road tax now only £35. Cheap insurance.
Avoid Toyota dealers for servicing at £65 per hour and these are cheap cars to run. If anything goes wrong (unlikely) just look at the on-line Toyota Yaris forums for help.
It's plenty quick enough for today's roads and pulls with four adults easily. Do your wallet a favour and get one.
This is the only Car I've ever said.."Yes I'll have it". And I wasn't disapointed. It's a joy to drive & the build quality is great. In fact I wouldn't have a new model Yaris, because the plastics in the newer car is not good. Toyota haven't heard of the phrase "If it's not broke, don't fix it". I wish I'd got either the Diesel or the T Sport.
