We have owned our Yaris since new, at it has lived up to expectations. We have done about 8000 miles in it since Oct 09.
The car is refined and quick, but you do have to rev it to get performance out of it. This is perhaps out of character with this type of car, but it does give you a choice of economy or performance. For spritely acceleration you do have to drop to 5th at motorway speeds, but most rivals only have 5 gears so this can hardly be described as a fault!! The gearchange took about 2000 miles to smoothen out fully, but it is now very good. The stop start is seamless & even trying brisk take offs cannot confuse it.
The handling is not at all involving, our Aygo was better in that respect, but it has good grip and all the controls are light. You just feel detached from any action. Motorway refinement is excellent for such a small car.
The ride is quite smooth, but the seats are a bit flat and lacking in support. Interior space is excellent front & rear with as much room as cars from the class above. The boot is a bit small with the rear seats pushed all the way back, but as they are independently slidable it has never been an issue. We have added the tech pack, a Bluetooth & USB iPod link, both of which work well. A couple of annoying equipment omissions include no heated mirrors & the steering wheel audio controls are not illuminated. As the audio controls also control the bluetooth, that can be a bit annoying.
I have this car as a courtesy car as my own was smashed by an idiot running into my back and have now done 500 miles. I'll be positive first,…
Just sold my Panda after 5 years of trouble free driving,I only got rid of it because a slightly bigger car was needed. I would be happy to…
