We have now had this car for 1 year and have covered 10000 miles. The car is excellent to drive with sharp and easy handling around town, enough power to get you out of trouble and the ride on A roads is very good for a small car. It can bounce a bit but we have soon got used to it. My only small gripe is that the fifth gear seems a tad to short which can be a bit irritating on long journeys on the motorway. The dealers are excellent. My wife regularly gets 47mpg. I'm glad we didn't have the 1.0l because on courtesy cars I've driven it was very loud, boomy and harsh to drive. I would recommend this car to anyone. Much better than the collection of french and english cars we've had in the past.
We also got a cracking deal from the dealer. We change again in a year and at this moment we'll be having another. Pity I can't rate it as 4.75 stars.
I have owned this car for less than a week changing from a 1.6 petrol Honda Civic executive. I was concerned i would be dissapointed but so far so good. I find it very practical, the boot although small can be extended with the flick of a wrist.I find it easy to drive although again compared with the civic the gear change is a bit stiff. The Yaris lives up to its reputation of small big and feels very roomy inside it handles and corners well despite being a 1.4 and i feel delivers well at pace with good acceleration. I did a lot of research and took a lot test drives before choosing this car and am happy with my choice. Difficult to comment on Running costs as yet but it seems to be doing between 51 and 53 mpg.
I had the chance to drive a Yaris 1.3 T3 of a friend of mine, and i can say that its has a very powerful 1.3 Petrol.. however as for the drive it may not be as much fun as my Corolla 1.4 petrol, however its still a good car! As for the gearbox, sorry Mr.Mckenna, however you can't pretend that the car will work with an oily precision once you drive away from the showroom, you have to give some time until it frees itself up! This was the same story with my corolla, when i bought it way back in november 2006 the gearbox was hard to engage any gears, however now after almost 2,000 miles and the first service at 1,000 miles (perfomed by our great local dealers - micheal debono ltd) it works with an oily precision. Don't give the yaris away for Peugeot or Renault!! Stay with Toyota/Honda/Suzuki..they're the best!
this is my third yaris and also my last.the cars gearbox lets the car down.it clunks gears and makes you feel like a learner driver strugling with the gear change.its roomy easy to drive,a well designed car, cheap to run and makes yoy feel safe with the very good driving vision.its a pity that toyota lets it down with the gear change.i will be glad to see the back of this one and will be looking at other makes and models from another company.
