I just had to write a review for my new car as I was slightly concerned when reading the reviews after already signing on the dotted line, I probably wouldn't have purchased it if I had read the reviews before hand. If you are considering purchasing this car then don't hesitate, all I can say is "I love it". I was very apprehensive moving from my larger family car with all the bells and whistles to this supermini but boy was I wrong. I just can't believe how much fun this car is as well as how practical it is. £35 for a years tax disc and ok diesel is pretty pricey but so is all fuel - so far the fuel economy is great. I absolutely love the Tom-Tom Sat Nav and with the Bluetooth connectivity it has all the gadgets you need - 1 small gripe - multi disc cd would be fab and get rid of the wind-down rear windows, apart from that I'm delighted with my new car. Both my husband and I are surprised at just how nippy it is and has extra power when needed, there is loads of little cubby holes for storing your gear and it's surprisingly really comfy in the front and back especially when you recline the back seats - nice touch Toyota. All in all I am delighted and can't believe this cracking little find we have found...BUY IT!!
Oh dear, what a mistake! A truly awful little car, very badly built, noisy, uncomfortable and unreliable. Clutch failed after 200 miles, poor starting, extremely poor fuel consumption. Numerous electrical faults, including rear lights not wired correctly (no stop lights or reversing lamp). Been to different dealer four times in a month and still not working properly.
Luggage and storage nice in theory but very badly thought out. Slide the rear seats forward to get a small (rather than miniscule) boot and you have rear seats that can't be used and a gaping hole in the boot floor. In this position seats and parcel shelf rattle.
Dashboard poorly thought out, you can see trip meter OR total miles not both. The fuel computer controls are in front of the passenger so you can't switch from (say) outside temperature to rang on tank.
Local dealer is one of the poorest I've ever encountered for any product. A classic case of "we have your money, we don't care". Car badly presented on delivery and numerous (paid for) features not fitted. I had to get Toyota involved to get what I paid for, and their reluctance to intervene was more than disappointing.
Avoid, there are many, many better super minis and most are cheaper.
I changed from a Seat Leon Cupra and am really surprised how much I like the Yaris. My car had 500 miles and one previous owner. I was apprehensive after reading negative reports of mmt gearbox, but decided to have a longer test drive and to really try it out. I have driven it 1000 miles now and cannot fault it. Of course it does require the driver to get used to the way it works. At motorway speeds it is comfortable and I certainly haven't noticed the noise others complain of. Petrol consumption around town is not as good as I was expecting about 35mpg although on a run 50+mpg. The car is easy to drive, comfortable, quite nippy - even in auto, and I am very pleased with my purchase so far. I would advise anyone considering the mmt version to give it a fairly long test drive and not make too much of any negative comments. I like it a lot and in heavy traffic it is a godsend. There is one thing I do not like and that is the small boot, but it is a short car and that comes with it.
Ihave had this car for two years, it as been great no problems - good fuel economey and pleasant to drive.
I would like a bigger engine maybe in the new yaris. Well done toyota.
