Performance, road holding, and living with this car in general is a dream. Running costs are hell on earth!
Put that right foot down and watch the petrol disappear! Tyres? Well, for the speed you need the best, but the best come at a price.
I had satellite navigation with a colour screen fitted, climate control, reversing sensors and xenon headlights, so its far from the norm. Thus the interior is quite special!
However, the dash rattles like a baby's pram. It's been in four times for headlight faults and the leather around the side driver's seat airbag will not remain in place, leaving a gaping huge hole into the seat. That's been repaired eight times now.
On the whole, having spent £21,000 on it, I am not overly impressed. I would have rather bought a second-hand BMW or Suburu.
But it is a dream of a car to drive and handles well on the Knockhill circuit - once you turn of the traction control, that is!
It could be faster off the mark, but the mid- and top-end is well controlled and gives endless amounts of power for a Vauxhall.
I bought this car for a cheap price, and equipment includes a CD player. It looks nice and has enough boot space for my hearing dog. Its insurance group is 4 which is reasonable. The 1.4 16v is worth buying.
Superb accelaration and torque, lovely sound from twin Irmscher exhaust but chassis can't always cope with the engine. Gearbox can also be very obstructive with a long clunky throw.
Dealer helpful. Good, but Focus a better all-rounder if performance is not top priority.
A torquey engine with all over grunt and good mpg. It is a bit annoying not being able to turn the traction control off, but how often is it required to be off?!
Brakes feel a bit spongey but bite well and stop with ease and security.
It handles exceptionally well with understeer being controlled by the TC and oversteer or lift off oversteer is never an issue.
There is an annoying rattle from the boot which cannot be located. Engine is nice and quiet for having a timing chain as opposed to a belt.
Overall, it is a car worth owning but has depreciated a lot recently with the launch of the Astra 5.
