Bought the Astra used with 10k on the clock about a month and a half ago, have since done over 5k in it. Used 7 days a week its standing up to working wear and tear very well indeed. Very strong wearing interior all very chunky and solid feeling – more so than its rivals in my view. Fault wise on the inside the instrument controls are very low set and the power socket does get in the way - touch sensitive items take some getting used to. Seats very comfy and supportive for long distances. Cruises exceedingly well with little road and engine noise at motorway revs and the diesel is punchy enough round town and on back roads while still returning good mpg (average 55-60mpg laden). Handles well enough but its safe rather than sporty then again its not that sort of car. Gearbox isn't the smoothest but I'm used to a different, short throw style. I do though wish I'd bought the estate - the boot is large but the opening is pitiful - the good looks of the hatch spoil the practicality of the rear end. Its not a downfall of the car in my view, more my own fault of not putting enough thought into the purchase. It does for the weekly shop but if you're thinking of using it as a working vehicle the estate is the one to go for. Very happy with the car, solid, refined engines, quality interior and good looks coupled with Vauxhalls usual good value put the Astra ahead of the rest for me when it came to buying. Excellent dealers too - not all but there are some golden ones out there.
I have had this car for 3 weeks now, bought it 10 months old and i love it. I have nothing bad to say about it. It looks very nice in star silver in this spec with all the chrome and big alloys. The interior is also very nice piano black centre console, part leather and full elec windows as well as a handy sports button. The fuel economy is around 38-40 around town which is good and the tax on mine for the year is 140 but on the 1.8 petrol which i had is 205.
The performance is very good and pulls very well in all gears. The interior space is good and the boot.
This car gets many looks and its a smart, fast, economical car that i cannot fault Well done vauxhall
Radiator replaced third year (Vauxhall Dealer said wear & tear) Tyres last 17,000 miles for front (Michelin or Continental) Seat upholstery not fit for heavy wear and tear
We have a 1.6 Sxi as a second car and pretty good really, nothing exciting and a bit lifeless under the bonnet but decent all the same.
The reason why i'm leaving a review is to alert people to what Brandish's in Coventry are like.
They returned the car to us with test equipment still attached to the car. Not only that, it was placed on a petrol soaked rag (because the guage was leaking) and it was right near to the heat shield!! It's a good job that we didn't use the car when it would start (which is also a really annoying common problem) because if we had then who knows what might have happened.
