    My car

I picked up my new Corsa 1.8 SRi three days ago, and I love it! This is my second Corsa, the first being a 1.4 SRi. I just had to have the 1.8 - it's fun and nippy. I chose the Black Sapphire - very cool and trendy and it certainly turns heads!

    My car

I am talking about the 1.2 Corsa semi-auto Comfort model, with a 2002 reg. The car is generally fine to drive. But when left in auto mode, the gear changes are a bit odd in that the car slows between changes and you think the engine has cut out.

It picks up again but spoils the acceleration, which is quite brisk otherwise. The engine is very quiet on tick over and also very smooth - no vibration whatsoever. It's much smoother than my 216 Rover. The ride is a bit firm but handling good. I think the power steering though is too sensitive and light. Braking is very powerful though and you have to be careful in slippery conditions. Overall a good and nippy small car.

    My car

I've owned the 1.8 SRi for five months and I've fallen in love. What Car? says that the 1.8 is 'potent'. It certainly is! Acceleration is exciting in all gears. You leave most cars behind when you pull off, only falling to the sub 8s.

The car doesn't come with traction control as standard, which makes for a very interesting drive, but I think it would lessen the experience if you added this extra.

Handling is very good and you feel like you are sticking to the road at all times. You get discs on the front and back, making for assured braking and red calipers provide a nice touch. 15" rims are good to look at and add to the car's appeal.

Town driving has proved to be a little expensive, with trips to the petrol station every 230-245 miles.

Motorway miles can extend this car's range to nearly 300 miles, though your eyes may begin to water as you watch the needle fall!

The sound system isn't as good as my previous car, but is quite good none the less. A unique-fit radio means you will have to buy a facia to fit any new ICE.

Overall the Corsa 1.8 SRi is a great car to own, and you get an envious glance from most people you pass!
