What a load of c$%P. 2.2 Sport RS owned for 5 years. Now done 66,000 miles. Had to change the head gasket, fuel pump, radiator, instrument cluster doesnt work. Pretty poor for a car thats done under 100k Drives nicely, interior nice, good cruiser. Appalling fuel economy. 22mpg round town. Better on long runs, have seen 30mpg touring. Good off road.
i own 2 fronteras a 2.2 rs sport petrol (opel)which i have owned for 8 years since from new & a vauxhall 2.2 olympus diesal lwb . the petrol has been to spain and back and towed a caravan to the french alps, the diesal is now doing the towing again to the alps, both are fantastic vehicles and do not deserve the comments people givr them.
Had this car for almost three years and it,s been wonderful. There appears to be an ongoing conspiracy amongst the so-called independant motoring reviewers whose wise words are supposed to enlighten us. If I took any notice of their reviews I would have missed out on buying a stylish, reliable, practical, cost-effective vehicle. Maybe Vauxhall aren,t providing these spoilt twerps with the right inducements, eh! Know what I mean! There again, Vauxhall need their backsides kicking for ceasing production of this lovely motor. Instead of continuing straight into an enhanced, up to date version, they seem to have listened to all the dishonest reviews and produced some sort of clone that they think will appease the most number of average buyers. I say to Vauxhall; let your moderate Antara slowly fade from view and bring into production a new Frontera that will challenge the tuareg and the discovery on all but price. If you can,t do that, then you shouldn,t be in the car making industry. KISS.
I have owned the Sport for two years and it has done 140K. The only problems I have had is the headgasket blow due to radiator leaking and the wife not noticing the temp guage going into the red. apart from that all is good. We have just brought another one the 2.2 LTD estate 2000 model and it drives like new. I looked at the Freelander and it has the Rover 75 engine in it with major headgasket and carb problems so pound for pound the frontera is good value for money...
