    My car

    Company Car and covered 50,000 miles.

    The Bad:

    It's not a car, its a computer. 160hp but the computer wont let you use it. Pulling away is very slow, the computer wont allow the engine to rev, 1st is HUGE. You can only pull away like a bus, even if you fry the clutch.

    The door sills are very high, reversing light pathetic, no spare wheel, windscreen wash tank is tiny.

    The electonic hand brake - Dreadful. Its really a parking brake, not a hand brake, its slow, noisy and unpredictable. It disengages with the clutch in and the throttle blipped, even if not in gear. You just cant trust it.

    The hill start assist - Supposed to stop you rolling backwards. It only holds for a second, and only on steeper hills, it does NOT stop you rolling backwards on shallow hills. You're never sure if its going to work or not.

    Automatically dimming dashboard layout, unpredictable and can suddenly go to full brightness at night. Ouch.

    Odd shaped boot, wheel wells intrude, rounded back is intrusive, back seats dont fold flat.

    The cruise and climate controls are confusing (even after 50,000 miles)

    If you accidentally put change into the ashtray without the tray in place - it all falls into the engine bay. I must have 40 quid rattling around in there now.

    All this 'Eco' technology and I only get 43mpg ???

    The Good:

    The powered boot.

    Two trip meters.

    Conclusion: Previous car was a Ford Mondeo Estate which was just better thought out in every way.

    My car

    My 06 plate Vectra SRi CDTi 150 estate went in for repair, so i got the 12 Plate Insignia SE CDTi 160 tourer for a 8 day hire. The Good...better interior trim quality, The door bins were large and spacious the seats comfortable and the courtesy lightning (with map lights in the front) and rear courtesy lights a necessary improvement. The Bluetooth/phone interface worked great and the DAB radio was good (no bass on speakers though!). The suspension damping was superb compared to the SRi vectra on rough country roads and the Wind noise of the previous Vectra on the motorway has been completely eradicated, the turbo lag of the CDTi 150 engine has also gone and a flat more even torque curve prevails...The bad. I had to check the vehicle spec decal, i just did not believe this was the 160 BHP engine.It was! This car was sluggish..very sluggish compared to the 150bhp Vectra. When joining motorways down slip roads it felt like i was thrashing it...Its a heavy car 48mpg avg...Although the overly light weighted power steering gives no indication of this when driving/manouvering slowly. In traffic the Engine is a little bit unrefined. The Boot space in the rear is tiny compared to the Vectra.The worst part about the car is the electronic handbrake,Noisy slow and doesn't release automatically on a hill like VW hillhold when you drive off.All Vectra owners want is a wiper linkage that doesn't break, and EGR valves that don't clog, not difficult VX you missed with this one

    My car

    Got this car as a courtesy car while my Civic was in the body shop.

    Car is very heavy and underpowered for its size. The name EcoFlex is a give away, it should say gutless. Not sure why producers think we need auto hand brakes nowadays, after 30 years with a lever its odd to press a button. Inside the cabin its noisy and despite only having less than 1000 miles on the clock, the legends on one or two switches are wearing thin. Seating position is a little odd, the clutch action seems to have a little offset to it, the seats aren't that comfortable.

    Handling is typical Vauxhall, pretty predictable but its not confidence inspiring.

    Panel gaps are everywhere, reminds me of my Astra from 5 years ago

    The boot has a funny shape which has a big floor area but is eaten up by the thickness of the boot lid / lining and the angle of the boot lid so its not that practical. Certainly the Mondeo based Jag X type estate my wife drives seems roomier.

    The satnav is big and clear but a bit on the basic side.

    Styling is bland. Please give me back my quirky Civic soon......

    There are so many better estates than this, the Accord, the Mondeo, Audi A4 etc etc. Just glad I didn't spend my money on this car

    Great car, wonderful comfort, superb interior, fantastic handling & quiet diesel (latest mods) reliable. 9k and no problems whatsoever.
