i own a 2001 1.6 16 valve just serviced the car sound bodywork and the engines built like a tank good running machines provided there serviced properly and well maintained throttle body can give problems but far and few between handbrakes stick too but as long as you clean the lever assemble every service you will get no worries and rule of thumb everytime you replace rear brakes and discs do bushes and bump stops to and check anti roll bar and shocks for ware but good car good gearbox good engine the 1.6 16 valve gives 30 return in the town and 45 on a run not to bad stay clear of the 8 valve models and sri estates and your laughin
i have owned it for just 18 months and was in town one day and the rev counter was jumping and it was reving it self and when i went two pull off couldnt get any faster than 10 miles an hour in 2nd gear so then took it two vauxhall two find out later on! that the ecu had packed up on me.it cost 800 pound two sort out and its common on vectras. that is what this guy told me after 2000. its put me off just abit two buy another one.ps it was one owner from new full serice and only 55 on the clock yreg 2001.
Bought the car at 2 years old with 63K on the clock. Only had 1 problem in 4 years and that was due to a pin hole leak in the fuel pipe, until now. The fuel pump has just packed up and will cost £1300 to replace! 109k on the clock and it's time for the scrap yard. The car has been an excellent workhorse and even with most of the journeys being short ones in and around town, it still manages 40 mpg. Lot's of space in the boot for moving stuff from A to B and rear seat passengers have never complained about a lack of room or comfort. Would I buy another, not sure, will probably try something different.
I just bought one on a Y reg aug 2001 @ 76000 miles. SRi is someting else... Very powerful, nice to drive. Mine has a GSi body kit too, so it is a very rear example. I drove it around 100 miles on motorway doing ok speed and got out 47 MPG.... In town its like 37 MPG... Lovely lovely car. I would not even change it for my previous V6 mondeo. The only reason I gave 4 star for the Cabin bit is because it is little noisy inside because of the noise coming from the engine. But not too much to worry about.

Bought car 2009 at 40k miles on clock. Since then I've had to replace both rear electronic brake calipers, to be fair this is probably wear and tear…
