I purchased one of these cars second hand and found that it was nice to drive, handled well but quite sparse when it came to the interior. Having said that, I was pleased with the car until one morning I slid on some ice and hit a wall.
The damage to the front of the vehicle looked quite extensive but luckily was only the front valance and one headlight. This happened Feb 23rd 05, but the problem got worse when the vehicle was recovered to the Vauxhall Dealership in my home town.
One thing that happened was that at the time of the accident, the airbag warning light came on, but the bags failed to work?? At the time, I was glad as I did not particularly want to be hit in the face by one so early in the day.
The problem was even worse when the gararge told me they cannot get the part to fix my beloved Vectra until after May 20. What? This is a British car, and the part needed fits onto the seatbelt somehwere (sorry not a techi) but according to Vauxhall Customer Care, (who were pretty useless) is a non-stock item in the UK and they are having problems obtaining the part from the suppliers.
So to date, my car has now been off the road three months, Vauxhall doesn't seem to be interested in its customers, does not seem to care that the product it manufactured didn't work when its supposed to be a life-saver? I think you can guess how I feel about buying British now??
The car is very economical and quite quick with 125bhp.
There is plenty of room inside - better than the Mondeo.
Nice to drive very powerful but brakes leave a lot to be desired and fuel consumption is a bit heavy
The car has good acceleration for its size, both from a standing start or at higher speeds. This makes it good for over taking. However, it's handling is lacking. It is comes well equipped and looks good, but not too over the top. It's a good all-round car which I think would suit many people, whether they have a family or not.
Order a brochure, find your nearest dealer or book a test drive
Owned for 1 year, as family runabout Pros good size, general build quality, powershift gearbox, good to drive, low costs Cons handling slighly…
Had this car for 90k from new. A 56 plate. In over 2,000,000 miles driven this one has broken down the most of any car I have had. DO NOT get a 2.0…
