    My car

The problem you might have is looking after her! I bought mine from a dealer in London who were clueless, thankfully I work for FROSTS VAUXHALL - www.frosts4cars.co.uk in chichester who are a vx220 specialist (if you have a vx220 specialist near you use them!) the majority of Vauxhall dealers have never seen one let alone worked on one!

You may have read stories of large bills & poor build quality. This is not true! I have owned the car for a year now and have driven her all year round! She has never let me down; starts first time every time on the button. Lotus builds her so if you’re expecting Audi quality then buy an Audi! Yes when it rains hard the roof will leak a bit. If you crash her you will have big bills.. This is a fiber glass shell on her and they are expensive to fix .. BUT you have a bulletproof engine whether you opt for the 2.2 or the turbo and frightening performance from both, you will also enjoy labor rates similar to corsa's.

The performance of the car really needs to be experienced to be believed! She out performs most vehicles on the road, and on the twisty’s holds her own from experience with 599's and 911 turbos and leaves elise's looking silly.

Do you want a genuine sports car you can use everyday or pose in an Audi TT?

It has been by far the best investment I have ever made and bang for buck the vx220 is second to none! Nothing including the better half can bring a bigger smile to a vx220 owner’s face! Just ask one..

    My car

After 3 years I have just sold my non-turbo VX220 due to the birth of my first son; not the most practical family car! As an only car, it was fantastic in the summer but during the Autumn and particularly Winter months it could be soul destroying. Ripped and soaking suits (from getting in/out and sitting in a puddle), a frozen cabin, people cutting you up, vandelism, damage caused by others (who then drove off), cheap switchgear and wicked expenses (£1,000 and 4 weeks off the road for two new headlamps) were the worst of the problems. However, I am thoroughly glad I owned it. The summer months, acceleration, handling and enthusiasm from all who came into contact with it more than made up for its shortfalls. As a potential owner, just make sure you go in with your eyes wide open, knowing it won't always be a smooth ride and with a healthy bank account. Just like having a child!

    My car

First of all, you've got to ignore that little silver flag-holding griffin on the front of the car. If you say it's as good as a supercar, then say it's a Vauxhall, people will immediately think you're full of rubbish. But in cars, a badge isn't important. What's important is how it goes. And boy, does this thing go! I'm not sure how fast it was when I drove it, but it felt like I was going a good 200mph. And it's such a laugh. Normally when I drive, I don't really enjoy, it's just something that gets me where I want to go faster. But in this thing, as I was hammering it round some twisty roads and a pretty decent speed, a smile spread across my face, then a chuckle, and then I was laughing, it's SUCH a giggle to drive. When Vauxhall say that it handles and feels like a supercar, they were 100% right! The low position and high sills were a slight inconvenience, but with the top off, I just hopped into it and was ready to go!

All in all, I love this car, and are going to be getting one myself.

    My car

I bought this car in German Opel Speedster configuration 10 days ago and have, for the first time in my life, been laughing out loud as I drive!

This little car is just a joy to pilot. Of course it is a bit impractical - but the Avantime is for the family and business stuff.

I have driven the car from Hannover to London via Hoek-Harwich and back to Rostock in Germany before crossing to Finland and onward to Estonia.

The number of ferry ro-ro ramps encountered has taught me to be very aware of the clearance at the front end. Thank heavens for the Euro clip-open plate-holder as I grounded the edge of the plate on my first ferry departure but it was simply dislodged from its holder.

Some sleeping policemen around Southgate and Enfield were particularly challenging as well. Within five minutes of arriving in Estonia, a pothole on a newly resurfaced road had me saying goodbye not just to the plate but the holder as well. However, a kind Russian baboushka retrieved it from the busy carriageway and then proceeded to scold me for driving such an impractical vehicle!

Anyway it's fun, fun, fun all the way and the number of people who have come up to me to talk about the car has been quite remarkable - four in one half-hour period at Rostock harbour.
