    My car

Did love this car until it went for its 3rd year service and 1st mot. The A/C was`nt working asked them to check it out under warranty. They phoned me and said it needed a re-gas, not covered by warranty £991. Then phoned back to say ther was a fault on the A/C so it was covered. Car in for 3 days! After a few days noticed it was warm in the car..warranty no expired..took it back and they found that the condenser had broken. Replaced under warranty as they had failed to diagnose it originally. After a week clutch problems and back in. In dispute with vauxhall, who have asked my permission to take out gear box so they can diagnose fault. Have said they will pay a % of the cost, but not how much. After reading reviews on the web I can see why, there are major faults on this car, really wanted an S-max and was fairly happy with the car up to now. But it will be going soon. Am not happy with the masterfit centre or vauxhall, offering to pay a % is an admission of guilt to me and I think other owners should contact each other and contact watchdog or some other agency.

    My car

I have owned this car for 18 months and it was just over a year when I bought it. I too have had to have the A/C replaced, which was a huge job done under warranty. I have also suffered problems with loss of power on motorway. However that said, this is a great car for the money. I needed a car large enough for my dog cage (therefore needed back seats to stay folded, but I wanted to be higher up than an estate. I don't use my back seats often, however they come in handy when friends are visiting, although there is very little boot space when back seats are up. The handling is good for a large car, although as I have a 1.6, it is very sluggish and I do regret not buying a larger engine. The economy is good and I do a good mix of driving around the city and touring Scotland. I agree with the problem with the front pillar obstructing view and this can be dangerous at times. The indicators are also a pest and I find myself constantly fighting with them. Despite these problems, I like this car and it does what it says on the tin!!!! Its cheap to run, proves a comfortable drive with lots of space, well done vauxhall.

    My car

Don't touch this car with a bargepole!!! Persistent, recurrent problems with the EGR valve make this a VERY unreliable car. First the car loses power and then shortly afterwards just dies at the roadside. Having suffered repeatedly I contacted Vauxhall. They advise making a 25-30 mile open road journey once a fortnight to stop the car from having this problem...at my expense! This car is not made for low mileage, short journey users, ie.families. If you have recurrent problems you should contact Trading Standards as they are looking into this case.

    My car

I have owned this car for two and half years and despite the faults we have suffered i still really like this car.For a heavy 1.6 litre engine the fuel consumption is good.On a run it will achive 48mpg if it is kept to 65 to 70 mph and on a recent run from London to the lake district we managed 52mpg which is amazing. The size and the 7 seats make it the most practical car i have owned.engine and road noise are quite. The worst aspect of the car is the thick A pillar which does restrict your view.14000 miles still plenty of tread on tyres.we suffered a problem from new with a faulty sensor on the exhaust manifold which caused loss of power. This was rectified by main dealer straight away. The second problem was a faulty demister flap which required the entire dashboard and heater and air con units to be removed .A major job that took a week but was satifactorily done by the main dealer under warranty. After that the clutch had a judder that was a known fault with the 1.6 engine this was also replaced under warranty. After sales service by Magnus in Brentwood has been first class dealing with the faults. For the price i would say the Zafira is vitually unbeatable .Build quality and paintwork are good its also an atractive design. We chose a petrol engine as we do a lot of relativly short journeys and it was also around 2000 pounds more for the diesel
