Ok I know I haven't given it 5/5 on all the categories but I had to give it 5/5 overall just because I love my bug so much!
I've had my silver bug with black hood and leather interior for 2 years and have put over 20,000 miles on the clock. She is on a 53 plate and has now done 46,000 miles without a hitch.
She did cost me a fortune when servicing but I found out just after from an independant garage that I had been ripped off by the dealership (Murray VW in Plymouth)and she hadn't in fact needed half the work.
She has never caused me any problems at all.
They are not the cheapest to run, mine is a 2.0 litre and is thirsty - she also likes to drink oil.
I am unfortunately having to sell my bug as I have a dog and my job involves carrying a lot equipment so I need something more practical, I will be very, very upset when I sell her though.
Despite being around for several years now they still turn heads everywhere they go and they are not that common on the roads.
I have to say I do like my cars with a bit of power and the acceleration is not the quickest but she's not meant to be I guess and she travels very comfortably and quietly on the motorway at speed (maybe a little over the limit :-) )
I find the visibility fine to be honest and despite not having parking sensors I can park fine!
If you're reading these reviews trying to decide if you want to get one all I can say is - go on, you'll not regret it I promise!
My wife was given this car as a 40th birthday present, stunning looking car in black with cream leather interior and tiptronic auto gearbox. The car feels heavy with the big low profile tyres although I still find it a joyful experience to drive having of course got over the stigma of being associated with that "Vase"!!
Heavy on fuel to the degree that we have seriously considered converting it to LPG (£2000), the boot is quite a lot larger than you expect and can easily manage a large weekly shop.
Overall it is pleasing to own and to be seen in, keeping the fabric roof clean however is a bigger nuisance than anticipated.
This is truly a girlie car it has loads of personality and is so much fun, looks great with the hood up and down (unlike some cars). I love mine and and wouldn't swap it for anything. Harvest Moon Beige with a black hood and black leather bought in March 2008. TOP TIP - Buy the wind deflector it is really worth it I guarantee.
I have just sold my beetle 1.4 cabriolet and purchased a cheap little run about.
I really regret it - I loved the beetle and had it from new for just over 4 years. It was a great car with big personality !! I lost next to no money - on average I think I lost £1k a year on the vaule of the car. (i know they are slightly dearer now to buy new)
I would 100% buy one again - fantastic girlie car x ;-)

Amazing car, once driven, never forgotton, forget all the pretenders like BMW Z4 and Mercedes SLK, they will never have the passion of a Porsche
I love this car! Handling is great, its fun to drive and even reasonably practical!
