At just three months after buying this car I noticed the boot was dented. After inspection by VW I was told that this was my fault for closing it in the centre.
There should in fact be a handle there, but they said the reason that it was so hard to close was because the seal was so tight so that fumes could not enter the car and that this was wear and tear and not a manufacturer fault. However, I have seen other Beetles with exactly the same dent on the same place but VW still said it is wear and tear and seem to have no concern that the boot is too hard to close.
Well, a chicks car it may be but I'm enjoying it all the same. Our 1.6 in glorious Sundown Orange is the best fun car I've ever had, with a fabulous stereo to boot.
I've had mine for just over five months and so far no faults. The only gripe I can think of is the rattling of the windows, which typically occurs on the potholed roads in and around our village. This is not a problem when you're on the motorway. All Beetle Cabriolets do that apparently.
The 1.6 suffices for normal day-to-day driving and doesn't feel particularly slow. Probably its flexibility makes up for the lack of grunt: it will happily cruise at 40mph in fifth. However on very steep inclines (16%) it does struggle and there is no power reserve at all for overtaking that lorry in front of you. But in this car even that won't wipe the grin off my face!
Volkwagen and the Beetle cabriolet promised so much before receiving our money, but once they had possession of our hard-earned money, neither the vehicle or Volkswagen matches our expectations.
The car is a pleasure to drive and looks great with the hood up or down. But!!!!! The body rattles, not just a little, but rattles on smooth roads, bumpy roads, dry, wet. We have had our car for 6 months and in this time it has been back to VW on no fewer that 6 occassions.
It has been passed to 2 different retailers and they each have tried but failed to rectify the problem.
This car is fun fun fun although I do feel I only half own it as the dealers have had it back several times for door mirrors windows and the roof but hopefully now it is all sorted.
This car turns heads and is a real chick mobile. Everybody stares smiles or waves and my kids love it. It is great on long journeys and I found the boot OK. The only downside is poor vision, especially when parking. My verdict is if you want a real girly car which combines safety with style then you will love the beetle cabriolet.

Amazing car, once driven, never forgotton, forget all the pretenders like BMW Z4 and Mercedes SLK, they will never have the passion of a Porsche
I love this car! Handling is great, its fun to drive and even reasonably practical!
