I bought the Bora after having my old Ford Probe serviced. It was recommended that I try the Bora and am glad I made the change.
The 150 Sport is everything I was told about (both by the mechanic and the dealership) I bought it from. Around Birmingham I average about 38mpg, which in my opinion is good. I have yet to put in on the motorway but forecast no problems there.
There's just one problem - below 30mph, the car (or me) doesn't like it. Overall, it goes like **** off a shovel. Enough said.
This is a brilliant car, with a solid, reliable body and an engine which was more than happy doing 90mph with a roof box, full boot and heavy load. To go with all this, it was returning over 36mpg.
It had 2900 miles on clock before going to Spain and we got there in less than 24hrs from Birmingham to Salou.
The equipment you get compared with the Ford Mondeo new shape which we previously owned is way better, with, for example, an on-board computer.
Around town, we average 52mpg which we are more than pleased with. So far, with 4200 miles on the clock, we have had no problems, and VW service is tremendous.
Ours is a 2001 Y-plate model and we will definitely be having another VW, and strongly recommend one to any keen driver.
I have had this car for six months now and have to say it's the best car I have ever owned. I had a BMW before, and this beats it hands down. It's very cheap to run and you get a lot for your money. It's a good-sized car with a massive boot, and on the motorway I get 50+ mpg. From now on I'm going to stick with VW.
Fairly sturdy vehicle, even on rough roads. Over time, though, the automatic transmission has tended to get a bit awkward if power is needed to perform a quick manoeuvre. Maybe the age of the vehicle is a factor - I own a 2001 model.
The cabin layout is quite practical, but VW sacrificed heavily on the rear leg room to provide the boot space.
Overall - a reasonable vehicle, still capable of turning a few heads.
