    My car

I recently acquired a 2000/W with 70k on the clock, which I've clocked up 2000 miles in so far.

The car looks fantastic, it's eager enough once you get the revs up and - unlike other reviewers - I've had no niggles (yet) on the build quality front. Whilst it's no out-and-out racer, working the engine hard is enough to put a smile on your face, although fuel economy suffers as a result.

Handling is a bit imprecise, rolls a bit in the corners, although it sticks to the road well and I've yet to feel worried by a high speed corner.

Interior is brilliant, has a 'quality' feel and the blue dials look great.

I'd recommend this car as a good second-hand buy.

    My car

I placed a review here in April 2005. I am just at the point of trading the car in after owning it from new.

It has covered 38,000 miles and not required any warranty work. The only problem has been a blown rear tail light bulb.

It's definitely the best car I have owned so far.

    My car

Covered 70k in a 2000w 2.0 GTi. No reliability issues apart from water ingress fixed quickly under warranty (door seals) Looked nice and good quality feel. Nice interior Nice blue dials. Practical Hatch. However, engine as flat as a pancake. 30MPG if you were lucky. 1.8t was much smoother, more powerful and economical. Diesel versions much better still. 130 bhp tdi much quicker and 45mpg+. Really strong mid range. Avoid silly low profile wheels unless you dont actually travel anyware. They are fragile, scream "fith owner", mess up the ride and handling and get chipped. In fact avoid the 2.0 gti and go for the diesel, a car that a would give 5 stars to.

    My car

    I love my Golf!

Bags of power yet great fuel consumption, excellent build quality, great 8 speaker sound system, the cabin is a great place to be, cheap on my insurance, holds it's value and not to mention looks great!

    German efficiency at it's finest!

Will be changing it next year only for an Audi TT!
