Bought this car from VW garage when it was one year old with 18k miles
The interior and exterior design and quality is fantastic. The torque kicks in from 1500 rpm which gives the car alot of useable power in everyday situations. There's also a satisfying growl as you get higher in the rev range. The gearing is well judged and at 70mph in 6th the engine is only doing about 2600rpm. Im averaging 35-37mpg with mixed driving. Road and wind noise are fine.
There are a few things Im disappointed with. The gearchange is poor - changing from neutral into first or from first to second gives a grinding sensation and on a few occasions I havent been able to engage first gear - its being serviced this week so il ask the dealer to check this. The brakes are awful - poor feel and progression through the pedal leading to an 'all or nothing' braking style that i find quite jerky in stop-start traffic. The stereo looks good but the sound is VERY average. I wish id found a car with the upgraded stereo.
I have owned this car for just over a week now and it is brilliant. It drives very smoothly and the 1.4 TSI engine feels powerful and willing with a very smooth power delivery. The interior seems very well put together and every thing has a high quality feel to it. Gear changes via the 6 speed gearbox are smooth and precise. Over all this car is very smooth and relaxing to drive.
I bought this unassuming star a year and 14000…
