Just an update from my last review. This is my second jetta after falling in love with the basic 1.9 s version.I upgraded to the sport and the 16v DSG TDI model. Managed to find a very rare example with full leather, winter pack and loads of other goodies which i have really benefited from. The DSG box mated to the 2 litre really is fantastic. If you have never been an auto fan, just get your bum in one and try it as this is like no other. Fast smooth, effortless, you will never go back to a manual, and if you miss selecting your own gears, you have that option just by knocking the lever over to semi auto. The ride is a tad firm as it has tthe sport suspension but it pays dividends when you push it. The car is just the right size for our family as the wife can park it better than the passat we used to have. I have a tow bar for a bike rack so the massive boot can be accessed with the bikes still attached. A great all rounder and quite rare and VERY UNDERESTIMATED!
Last wrote in June 2008 when a new clutch was to be fitted at 10K. That went well. Good local dealership here in North Walsham. The car has currently got 26k on the clock and the clutch has just begun to judder from cold. I am constantly under the car taking stones out of the wishbone units to prevent the car sounding like a bean can with a stone in it. The petrol filler lock on the flap stopped working at Christmas and needed to be cut off by the dealer to let me fill the tank. A new flap was ordered and painted prior to fitting. Few other silly problems. All in all the car has been a great disappointment over the old Bora which had a superb build quality. I have traded it in for a new polo diesel and having waited nearly four months for delivery and found out that the ordered car is now a redundant model.-Not doing the 16 SE diesel any more- I am not happy. I think VW have lost the plot.....
I bought my 9 month old Jetta during early December 2008, and have been really impressed by the overall quality and performance. This car is a joy to drive, very comfortable, and has impressive acceleration and high cruising speed capability, with overall running costs quite low for such a large car. This is a really impressive car, and I have no hesitation in giving this model my 100% satisfaction. I bought it for a bargain price from a well known National car supermarket, and a few days after purchase I saw exactly the same year and model on a local VW dealers forecourt priced at £3500 more than I paid for mine! Which really says a million words.
