If you are an understated, discreet, sophisticated person who is rather quirky and old school then this is the ultimate luxury limousine for you and you will never drive anything other than this. The car is very rare in the UK and the sight of another one brings an instant rapport with the other driver. The car is one of the heaviest (full metal frame) on the road yet the petrol 3.2l will return 30mpg on trunk roads and motorways if driven sensibly. Packed full of electronics and an advanced engine management system that does Darth Vader's Death Star proud.Things can go wrong and a visit to the main dealer will cost you three figures every time but the return on these visits is effortless driving, superb class leading massage, heated and chilled seats, a roomy cabin, and superb comfort air suspension. The car dominates the road and rarely will you find anyone (including 4 x4's) intimidating you or tailgating. The rear solar/privacy glass is excellent as is the front and rear cabin climate control. The earlier models do not have touchscreen facilities so the satnav is inferior and the telematics system is certainly something to be desired.Security is excellent but no-one is ever going to scratch the paintwork through envy or steal to order due to no badge snobbery.Do your sums in relation to diesel v petrol fuel economy return as there is distinct price depreciation on the earlier petrol models against diesels. Unbelieveably cheap to buy in theUK.

If you appreciate quality and don't subscribe to badge snobbery then this is the car for you. Having said that, do NOT, whatever you do, buy a new one unless you (a) have money to burn or (b) have someone else's money to burn.

I picked up a late 06 plate in perfect condition with almost 10 months manufacturers warranty still to run for £15k.

Everything about the car exudes class. I absolutely love this car.

I was interested to see the photograph of my car OVO3GHB on the Whatcar web page! It is a 6.0ltr W12 4motion tiptronic. Jeremy Clarkson rates this car very highly and he is absolutely right. Why buy a Bentley Continental GT when you can have all the same mechanics and luxury interior finish with the W12 for half the money This car has it all from a superb engine to double glazed windows and even a solar sunshine roof to keep the interior cool on a hot summers day. The car had only 9,000 miles on the clock and was 18 months old when I purchased it from a main dealer at almost half list price. It has now travelled 53,000 miles without fault. It may have a VW badge but the Phaeton W12 is a much rarer car than an S class Sadly it is now for sale
