    My car

Fairly reliable, fairly good ride, fairly durable, rolls a bit, dull. If Hotpoint made cars they'd make them like this.

    My car

It's a fantastic little car for long or short journeys. It particularly seems to hold its composure on motorways for such a small car. It has a very nippy little engine indeed with impressive grunt. Its build quality, reliability and fuel economy (in the high 50s) are all outstanding with no complaints so far.

It does have a bit of body roll in the corners if taken at speed but is perfectly controllable. The brakes are good and strong. The standard interior equipment is a little sparse but upgrades such as a CD player can be bought from VW for reasonable prices.

All in all, it's a great car to drive and I thoroughly recommend it over its rivals.

    My car

I owned the VW Polo 98 R-reg for a year as my first car and believe it to be a great entry car for first-time buyers.

The car is solidly built, economical, being well kept Polo it still turns heads and of course the VW quality is there for all to see.

It's a little bare inside in terms of features and the leg room in the rear isn't great. Boot space one must say is terrible to be honest, but all in all it is a very good car.

Road noise at speed is acceptable and the power steering for 1998 is good.

Overall, it's a very good little car. Sadly the lack of features may push new owners to look elsewhere after a short time, otherwise if you want a reliable car, a no hassel ride, something that will keep its value in the future, then look no further than the VW Polo... nothing else in its class can compete.

    My car

This car is excellent to drive, although I seem to have bought it at the wrong age (five years), as everything seems to be breaking down! First came the water pump, which includes the timing belt, then the brake pipes, then the catalytic converter and then the gearbox.

At this moment it seems to be suffering from a mind boggler!

It cuts out when the revs drop below 1000! Besides all the problems I've had with this car over the last three years, I would still recommend it to anyone, providing they bought this model new!
