Took delivery of new 2.0 TDI 140 Match on March 1st. Replacement for 2.0 TDI SE acquired new exactly 3 years previously. 36 months and 20K miles of hassle-free motoring consisting mix of city/local and occasional longer runs to Northern England and Wales. Didn't miss a beat during this period – only visits to garage were for routine servicing and one VW recall. In summary: Plus: Very comfortable and car-like to drive. Good on increasingly potholed city streets and in significant snow during last two winters. Very good use of interior space – particularly rear seats for our two tall teenagers. Relatively cheap to run and insure, good combined mpg returns. No rattles, breaks or trim loss. Appearance hasn't aged – unlike some competitors.
Minus: 1st gear too short. Occasional 'whining' from engine bay/underfloor during very cold weather (Garage – "It's just the cold"….). Not a lot else.
Overall View: Recommended
Purchased our Escape with manual gearbox new in May 2010 after what seemed like a very long wait from placing the order in early January. The wait is well worth it and delivery times haven't improved since if teh Owners Website www.mytiguan.com is anything to go by....We added quite a lot of options for dleivety and thsu held up teh oder a lttle rather tahn taking a distributr's stock vehicle... We cannot recommend highly enough the panoramc sunroof, it is terrific. The factory fitted (hidden) towing ball and electrics are equally brilliant. This is without doubt a superb al-wheel drive car with some mighty credits to its name. Off road it performs extremely well its abilities with its 28% approach angle quite remarkable. The hill-hold electronic handbrake is most useful, but the hill descent "offroad electronic diff-locks, although very very good if you are lazy and on rock, lose ground, fresh snow, mud etc does has obvious limitations in ice on descents when obvioulsy the grip available from the tyres is never going to be that good, better to drive without electronics "helping". This would be true for any car after all - there is no excuse for driving experience in a variety of conditions.
We have had no problems at all in almost 9 moths of ownership and the car has not had to go back to the distributor for any reason yet, so with its first service due in May we shall by then have covered around 8000 miles. Driving perormance is more than adequate and it handles well.
Purchased new from Colbournes, Guildford (excellent service) 2009 to replace my Audi 2.0TDI Avant. Absolutely no problems with this car, whether towing a small caravan or trekking around Dartmoor in the snow. Nothing has fallen off, stopped working or broken down it's been totally reliable. That said it's not without some minor niggles i.e. 1st and 2nd are very low, probably a compromise for no low ratio gearbox, but it leaves a bit of a gap between 2nd and 3rd; electronic handbrake, l agree with previous reviews, it sometimes fails to disengage first time; small boot. However its handling, driving position and overall relaxing drive more than make up for these short comings. I would also recommend the panoramic sunroof which, unlike those of most of the Japanese competition, actually opens.
I've had the SDV6 XS for just over a week and cranked out a 100 miles per day since I've had it. I had a 2009 Disco 4 XS before that. Sadly I sold…
After a long search for a new car I went for the 2.2 DCi X Trail in Sport trim. I'm very happy with the car, it drives very well compared to other…
