    My car

I dont drive this car every day as I do to many miles so I use it occatinally 5K miles a year the rest of the time my wife drives it totaling 20K a year It always enjoy driving it and the auto gearbox is good I get 26 MPG which compared to other 4x4s I have owned I find this acceptable. It has 19 inch wheels and the tyres cost around £220 each these have to be replace every 18K miles I think this is too much. I live in country lanes and find the vehicle too wide along these as a results it has cost me 2 wing mirrors at about £350 each. Its also hard to park in town centre car parks.

For driving in someways the car is too good as it lacks a little in chartacter compared to other vehicles but I supose this is a sign off the times. I sometimes wish I had my old discovery back but would not welcome the service costs.

Overall I would recommend this vehicle if you dont mind a lack of character

The vehicle always looks good and to me this is important

    My car

I have now owned this car since September of 2006 (registered April 2006) I purchased the car nearly new with 5,800 miles on the clock as an Approved Used VW. My car is avery highly speced with all the boxes ticked save for Air Suspension. The car returns between 16 to 18 MPG around London and on a run it returns no more that 25 MPG, in all honesty I am not a boy racer so I am rather dissapointed at those figures. I had to replace the original Continental tyres at 11,100 miles though was a little life left in them, however two tyres did wear very badly resulting in a new set. I purchased Michelin Diamaris which I am told offer a longer mileage, they are also quiter. The level of standard equioment is pretty good, however certain items which are optional really should be standard particularly on a car with this price tag, Parking Sensors, Bi-Xenon Headlamps, Electric Seats and Dipping interior mirror. The Sat Nav system is absolutely rubbish when compared to a Tom Tom 910, no wonder they bundle it in free. Overall it is a good car, equally as good to drive as the new Mercedes ML 320 and more powerful than the Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover Sport Diesels. I also like the diesel particulate filter fitted to my car. One last point, the heater controls are a little truck like in their operation with large click dials, a little unsophisticated! Next time I would still consider another Touareg but would probably buy the Mercedes Benz!

    My car

I've had this car from new. It was registered in October 2006.

I was very impressed with the quality of the vehicle from the outset. The specification was much higher than other cars of the same price, such as the Land Rover Discovery, and the Touareg has a far more refined luxury feel about it. It is a pleasure to drive and feels safe and reassuring.

The six-speed automatic gearbox is smooth, although I feel it is a little slow to react at times.

Long-term fuel consumption is averaging 30mpg, which I think is good for this type of vehicle.

The complimentary driving day provided when you purchase this vehicle really shows the versatility and capability of the Touareg. Anyone would be surprised at what the Touareg can do off-road and then drive like a luxury car on the road.

I would recommend this car to anyone able to spend this kind of money.

    My car

First of all, I love this car! Also, don't think I am a typical woman driver, as my husband and I own a garage, so I know what I am talking about.

Fuel consumption is not so good - it's similar if not worse than our Shogun Sport 2.5 TDI. I don't do much mileage so, what the hell!

This is the first automatic I have owned and will never go back to manual. It is great, lazy driving!

The Touareg is great - looks and interior are far superior to the BMW X5 and there are not as many on the road. Our kids love it, down to a proper seat belt each and the heated seats are great. It's fun to drive, and we will certainly trade it in for a newer model in two years.
